Ambrose first married Alta Woodruff and they lived in Indian Territory in Oklahoma. When the youngest of their 4 children was about 1 year old, Alta passed away and Ambrose moved his family to back to Newton County where he married Stella Christine Barr and homesteaded near Plumlee, now known as Mt. Sherman. Stella was an older sister to my Grandma Spencer, Mary Arzelia (Barr) Spencer and is Richard Kilgore's grandmother. Together Ambrose and Stella had nine more children.
