Fay Hempstead Described Newton County in Pictorial History of Arkansas, 1890. Includes table of county officials...(must be java enabled to read text images)

Guardianship Papers Filed in Newton County Includes images from the record book, and due to the efforts of Lina Boyd, a transcribed version of each page is also included. The earliest date of entry for these records is September of 1867.

Nonetheless, the impact of the war was hard felt to both resident and landscape of the county.' Includes Field Report: Skirmish at Whiteley's Mill, by Maj. James A. Melton of the Second Arkansas Union Cavalry, April 10, 1864. Also includes mention of early residents and operators of Whiteley Mill...later known as Boxley Mill...

Post Offices of Newton County Includes the date that a post office was established, as well as the name of the first Post Master.

1850 Slave Schedule Includes slave holder names, number of slaves owned, their sex, age, and color. There was one free black family living in Newton County in 1850, the household of Sarah Pulliman, living with her six children in Osage Township.
