When Ruth Ann Wilson was editor of the Newton County Times Newspaper, Colleen Haynes Rongey wrote 'Voices of Newton County' articles. Ruth Ann Wilson has since passed on, (view Ruth's obituary). Back in 2000, Colleen sent several of her stories to me, for my Rootsweb Newton County, Arkansas site, as well as featured articles for my Newcoa Newsletter. Several of Colleen's stories also appeared on Colleen's Place, her AOL website. As of October 31, 2008, AOLŪ Hometown was shut down permanently. In an effort to retain Colleen's articles, a portion of her defunct website is mirrored here on ARF.

Hello there... My name is Colleen Haynes Rongey. This is Home Base for my family's genealogy, for visiting mountain stories and other things that fall my way.

Newton County history has been a lifetime of interest to me as I saved all old letters and printed pieces from the words of the old timers; so many are gone. I am pleased to share these things with you.
