Case appeared before the Arkansas Supreme Court...abstract

Robinson vs Calloway. Pulaski C. Circuit. 6 Jan. 1835 Clark Co., Ark.

Amy Calloway and John S. T. Calloway were granted Letters of Adminstration upon estate of John Calloway deceased. John Calloway left widow Amy and 14 children with 8 or 9 children still living at commencement of this action.

Calloway's estate was appraised by Adam Stroud, Archibald Huddleston and David Mosby.

In 1839 Hardy Robinson attached slave Mordecai for debts owed by Peter Calloway deceased son of John and Amy Calloway.

Amy Calloway testified that Mordecai was the son of her deceased husband and a slave woman.

Mordecai aka 'Mord' was 15-16 yrs. old in 1839. He was claimed by Amy Calloway as her separate property.

Witness Green B. Davis lived 3-4 miles from the Calloways for 20 yrs. in Clark County, Arkansas.

Reversed.
