The first courthouse in Benton County built of hewed logs was erected on this site at Bentonville 1837, the year after the county was created. It was named for Thomas H. Benton.

All eligible veterans are entitled to a marked grave. Government headstones or markers are available at no cost, through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
