Charley McConaughy, 64, of Berryville died Sunday, July 16 (2006) at Berryville.

Graveside funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, at the Gobbler Cemetery. Interment followed the service under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.

The son of the late Chester Leo and Frances Lorene (Babb) McConaughy was born Aug. 24, 1941, in Dariean, Wis.

JoAnn Sams pays tribute to her Husband, NCC S/W Paul A. Sams, who served thirty years in the Navy. Paul was born in Lakewood, Ohio and passed away January 21, 2002 in Bigelow, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife JoAnn Sams, four daughters: Allyson Smith, Ashley Corbitt, Polly Lawerence and Sherry Dauber. Two brothers, Dave Sams and Ralph Sams; seven grandchildren.

He was laid to rest with full Military Honors in Perryville, Arkansas at the Ragsdale Cemetery. He was a member of the Perryville First Baptist Church.

He recieved many military honors and he always said, someday he would walk ashore for the last time, and he did, doing what he loved the most, serving his country.

Ronald Clarence Edgmon, 65, of Gravette, Arkansas died January 20, 1984 at the Gravette Medical Center. He was born December 16, 1919 in Mossville, the son of Leither and Daisy Watson Edgmon.

He was employed at the Gravette Shelling Plant. He was the Gravette Fire Chief for several years. He served three terms on the City Council. He was a member of the American Legion and a Police Commissioner. He was a member of the Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. He had lived in this area since returning from military service in 1946.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Spencer Edgmon of the home; five brothers, Harvey Edgmon of Gravette, Franklin Edgmon of Loveland, Colorado, Berlin Edgmon of Bentonville, Arkansas, Sidney Edgmon of Houston, Texas, Winston Edgmon of Woodbridge, Virginia; three sisters, Carrie Boling of Hiwassee, Maxine Haney of Wichita, Kansas and Eddie Bailey of Chinle, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and the Rev. Tommy Haley officiating. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Arrangments are by Burns Funeral Home of Bentonville. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Carlos Bell, a resident of Alpena, Arkansas, was born August 29, 1913, in Delmar, Arkansas, a son of Bee Benton and Mellie Frances (Gibbs) Bell. He departed this life Sunday, November 9, 2003, in his home at the age of 90.

Mr. Bell was a farmer. He was of the Assembly of God Faith. Mr. Bell was a veteran, having served our country with the United States Army during World War II.

He is survived by three sons, Eugene Bell of Alpena, Arkansas, Earnie Lee Bell of Everton, Arkansas, and J.C. Bell of Wichita, Kansas; two daughters, Daisy Jean Powell of Green Forest, Arkansas, and Betty Jane Turnbough of Springdale, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

In 1941, he was united in marriage with Eva Bearden Bell who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Bee and Mellie Bell; and two brothers, Bryant Bell and Henry Bell.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at the Osage Baptist Church with Rev. Lannie Younger officiating. Interment will be in the Plumlee Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.

Sue Ann Farmer Dolmage was born November 28, 1946 to Treva 'Anna Bell' and the late Otto Farmer; she died on Monday, March 26, 2007 at her home in Lamar, Arkansas at the age of 60.

She is survived by her mother, one son, Ronnie Leroy Hampton; one brother, four sisters, Marilyn Bickner of Hasty, Arkansas, Villa Friesen of Deer, Arkansas, Christie Fouts of Dover, Arkansas and Kathryn Williams of Dover, Arkansas; and numerous step-brothers and step-sisters.

She is preceded in death by her father, two sons, Bobby Joe Hampton and Randy Lee Hampton; and one brother, Leslie Farmer. A graveside service will be at 2 P.M Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Western Grove Cemetery in Western Grove, Arkansas under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville AR. Honorary pallbearers will be Robbie Farmer, George Friesen, Jeff Fouts, Mike Farmer, Vick Farmer and Brandon Lee Hampton.

Services for Julia Carolyn Morris, 93, Eudora, Kansas, were Saturday, June 17, 2006 at Holder Chapel and Western Grove Cemetery in Western Grove, Arkansas. Burial was in Western Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Morris died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at the Eudora Nursing Center. She was born Sept. 15, 1912, in Pindall, Ark., the daughter of O.J. and Samantha Smith Nichols.

Mrs. Morris worked for defense plants during World War II. She was a homemaker and a member of the Western Grove Baptist Church in Arkansas. She married Kay Morris. He died in 1989.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty McElhaney, Lawrence, and Willa Fern Reddell, Western Grove, Ark.; a brother, Thurman Nichols, Pindall, Ark.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St. Lawrence, 66044.

Robert Anderson Medearis was born in Knox Co., Tenn. Oct. 1, 1840. His father moved to Washington County, Arkansas in 1857. While attending school in St. Louis, MO, Robert was converted and united with the M.E.S. church (Methodist Episcopal Church?) He served 4 years in Confederate Army as Lieutenant of Shannon’s Co. On Aug. 21, 1867 he was married to Miss Amanda Hinds of Viney Grove, Arkansas. In 1868 Robert and his wife 'Amanda' united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was for many years an efficient ruling elder in the church. He was elected and served one year as Moderator of Arkansas Presbytery. He was elected to Arkansas State Legislature serving 4 years. He served 4 years in the legislature in Little Rock, Arkansas. Sometime after 1906 he joined the Presbyterian church at Westville, Oklahoma, and was instrumental in building the church at that place. He said that he would rather have a Presbyterian church in Westville than a monument to his grave. 8 children were given as a blessing to this home, one of whom died in infancy. Seven with the mother survive him. They are: Mrs. George Gibson and Park Medearis of Westville, Mrs. Narcissee Thibodeaux of Louisiana; Frank Medearis, Albert Medearis and Mrs. Willet McGuire of California; and Dr. R. S. Medearis of Argenta, Arkansas. He departed this life April 3, 1914 at his home in Westville, Oklahoma. He was interred at Old Union Cemetery, Cincinnati, Arkansas, where his early church work began. He was consecrated, faithful, every day Christian. His friends were numbered by his acquaintances. Mr. Medearis was a brother-in-law of W.G.D. Hinds and Mrs. Jennie Brasel both of Muskogee.

Clarence Kilgore Jr., a resident of Green Forest, Arkansas, was born October 11, 1936, in Low Gap, Arkansas, a son of Clarence Foie Kilgore, Sr. and Opal A. (Maybee) Kilgore. He departed this life Tuesday, April 19, 2005, in Kanas City, Missouri, at the age of 68.

Over the years, Clarence worked at St. Johns Hospital, Berryville, Arkansas, Green Forest Schools, and Tyson Foods. He was an Electronic Technician by trade, working for Bonzer Electronics for several years. He attended St. Annes Catholic Church in Berryville. Mr. Kilgore was a veteran, having served our country with the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his sisters, Trevia Elson of Cave Springs, Arizona, and Sharon Kilgore of Kansas City, Missouri; four brothers, Isaac Kilgore of Holt, Missouri, Glen Kilgore of Kansas City, Missouri, Gary Kilgore of Independence, Missouri, and Terry Kilgore of Kansas City; other relatives; and a host of friends.

On August 5, 1978, he was united in marriage with Phyllis Ann (Barr) Kilgore who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Opal Kilgore. Plumlee Cemetery.

Lorene Watts, 73, of Marshall, died Sunday, March 11 (2007) at Marshall. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Roller Coffman Chapel in Marshall. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at the chapel. Burial will be at Marshall Memorial Gardens.

The daughter of the late Berry and Ottie Martin Horton was born Sept. 6, 1933, at Rock Springs. She was the wife of A.C. Watts.

John William Rushing, son of W. O. and Rena Rushing, was born July 7, 1915 and departed this life February 27, 1922, at the age of six years, six months and 20 days. He was the picture of health until he was stricken with that dreaded disease pneumonia. For five long weeks he fought for life, but finally yielded to the Monster. He was the joy and pride of his loving parents and was greatly loved by his brother and sister, Roy and Ruth.

James A. Rushing, a pioneer citizen of the Dover community died at his home near Dover, March 18. Hed he lived until April 1, he would have been 71 years of age.

He leaves a wife, four sons, three daughters, a number of grandchildren, three brothers and one sister to mourn his death.

Old Citizen Passes Away
Rev. D. H. Rushing died Tuesday, April 28, after a three weeks illness, his death being due to a complication of disease common to old age. He is survived by his wife and six children, a son and daughter, living in Fort Gibson, Okla., and four daughters all married, in Pope County. He had been twice married, the present Mrs. Rushing having been a Mrs. Prior, of Hector. He was laid to rest in the Rushing grave yard on Wednesday, funeral services being conducted by Rev. Sam Tackett.

Mr. Rushing was born in Pope County seventy-one years ago in the Big Piney neighborhood west of Dover, and died in the house in which he was born. For over forty years he had been an elder in the Cumberland Presbyterian church, and some six years ago he was ordained as a minsiter. He had spent an active life in Pope County and had been instrumental in her development from wilderness to an enlightened, Godfearing, prosperous community. He leaves a wide circle of relatives and friends to mourn his death.

Mrs. Netta May Taylor, 92, of Clarksville died Tuesday, December 22, 1998, at Johnson Regional Medical Center. She was born in the Rocky Community west of Mena, daughter of the late George W. and Kate McKinney Barber, widow of Ruel Taylor, attended public school at Rocky, member of extension homemakers clubs at Mt. Vernon and Ludwig, active in Mt. Vernon and Mt. Airy Cemetery Associations, member of East Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and member of Belle Grove Chapter No. 56 Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a past worthy matron and served as grand representative to Scotland.

She is survived by two daughters, Louise Taylor of Grand Junction, Colo., and Rueline Turner of Clarksville; one sister, Pansy Chenault or Russellville; one brother, I.E. Barber of Mena; four grandchildren, Pam Jones and Mitzie Sears, both of Clarksville, Kathy Patton of Russellville, and Robert Turner of Fort Smith; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 24, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Belle Grove OES, % Juanita Thompson, Route 2, Claksville, AR 72830 or the Mt. Vernon Cemetery Association % Eldon Scoggins, 305 Thompson Street, Clarksville, AR 72830.
