William Braudrick, 91, of 602 Cherry Street, Berryville, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1985, at the Boone County Hospital.

He was born August 23, 1894, in Boone County. He was the son of Tom and Sadie Spencer Braudrick. He was a retired forman for Carroll County Electric. He lived in Boone and Newton Counties for most of his life. He lived in Carroll County for the past year and a half.

Survivors include three sons, Bobby Braudrick, Ingleside, TX, John Braudrick, Berryville; Lex Braudrick, Port Arthur, TX. two sisters, Judy Finn, Houston, TX, Dolly Myers, Harrison; nine grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen (Arbaugh) Braudrick and three sons, James, Jack and W.C. Braudrick.

Services were January 6, at Mt. Sherman Assembly of God Church with Burial in
Mt. Sherman Cemetery under the direction of Christeson Funeral Home.

John A. Milice, 84, of Bella Vista died Aug. 30, 1998, at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville. He was born July 24, 1914, in Kansas City, Mo. He moved to Bella Vista 16 years ago from Kansas City, Mo., and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He served six years on the tennis subcommittee and was a former member of Bella Vista recreation committee. He was a Shriner and a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Milice of the home, to whom he was married 41 years; one son, John Milice Jr. of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Patty Batcheller and Marilyn Metcalf, both of Kansas City; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. Wendell Dorman and the Rev. Thomas S. Stone officiating. Dorothy J. Karnes, 71, of Fayetteville died Aug. 30, 1998, at Edina, Minnesota She was born May 15, 1927, in Huntington to Edgar Bryant and Mary McLachlan Wilbourn. She was a former longtime resident of Springdale and Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh C. Karnes, in 1994.

Survivors include one daughter, Deborah M. Karnes of Edina; one son and daughter-in-law, Sam B. Karnes and Susan of Arlington, Texas; three sisters, Mary Lou Jones of Perryton, Texas, Vanita Duncan of Irvine, Calif., and Linda Costa of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; five grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville with the Rev. J. Anthony Holifield officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Moore's Chapel of Fayetteville.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Moore's. Memorials may be made to the American Liver Foundation, 1425 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. 07009. {mn}

Jessie Ruth White, 69, of Lewisville, Texas died Aug. 30, 1998, at her home. She was born March 12, 1929, in Waurika, Okla., to Samuel E. and Dora E. Snellgroves Prince. She was a member of Star Avenue Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, Texas, and was a former resident of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny W. White Sr., in 1982; one grandson.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Janie Ruth Reed and Harold Leo of Lincoln, Barbara June Chapman and Michael of Edmond, Okla., and Debra Jean Fall and Don of Lewisville; one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Wayne White Jr. and Pauline of Keller, Texas; one foster daughter and foster son-in-law, Janie Elaine Cochran and Homer; three brothers, S.E. Prince of Fayetteville, Doc Prince of Prairie Grove and J.T. Prince of Summers; two sisters, Ruby West of Lincoln and Mildred Whitley of Edmond; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Lincoln with the Rev. Harold Leo Reed officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove.

Pallbearers will be Homer Cochran, Butch Reed, Heath Reed, Marty Gebhart, Michael White and Jason White. {mn}

Bessie May Ballou, 69, of Prairie Grove died Aug. 31, 1998, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born May 12, 1929, in Canton, Mass., to Lois Hoyt. She was a Methodist.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Ballou of the home; two sons, Alvin Derby of Prairie Grove and Bruce Derby; two daughters, Juanita Bradshaw of Cane Hill and Lois Roger of Dover, N.H.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Shady Grove Cemetery in Morrow under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove. {mn}

Robert Allen Focht, 91, of Traer, Iowa died Aug. 30, 1998, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. He was born June 1, 1907, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Lawrence and Edna Persons Focht. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School and attended Drake University and in 1931 graduated from Iowa State University. He owned Western Auto in Atlantic, Iowa, before retiring to Springdale. He enjoyed fishing and was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge Pymosa 271 in Atlantic and Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was preceded in death by his wives, Ganelle M. Galiher Focht and Hope Smith Focht.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Allen Voetberg Focht of Traer; one son, Lawrence Focht of Akron, Ohio; two daughters, Frances Benhan of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Mary Elizabeth Burnham of Livermore, Calif.; two stepsons, Allen Voetberg of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Dirk Voetberg of Dubuque, Iowa; three stepdaughters, Rosemary Kersey of Indianola, Iowa, Beverly Phelps of Christianburg, Va., and Eleanor Philp of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Ruth Shanor of King City, Ore., and Helen Focht of Iowa City, Iowa; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Overton Family Funeral Home in Traer. The Rev. Marshall Monthei and Charles Downing will officiate. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Atlantic Cemetery. {mn}

Jane Frances Hughes Purvis, 80, of Cherokee Village died Aug. 30, 1998, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was active in civic and church affairs in Jonesboro and Cherokee Village and was an artist, gardener and avid bridge player. She was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and attended Arkansas State. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, a former president of Jonesboro Junior Auxiliary and a leader in education for disabled children. She was a Girl Scout leader and was active in the United Methodist Women. She had served as president of the Panhellenic Council, Jonesboro Arts Council and the Arkansas Optometric Association Auxiliary. She operated the Arkansas Artisans Gallery in Hardy for several years and assisted her husband in optometric practice and in the family jewelry store, H.T. Purvis and Son, in Jonesboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hoyt S. Purvis.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Hoyt H. Purvis and Mary of Fayetteville; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Sue Mullen and Chuck of Iowa City, Iowa; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Joe G. Hughes of Osceola.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cherokee Village United Methodist Church.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Marvin James Robbins, 81, of Springdale died Aug. 31, 1998, at his home. He was born July 13, 1917, in Lowell to Harve and Jessie Burch Robbins. He was a retired custodian at the University of Arkansas. He moved to Springdale in 1960 from Cave Springs and was a Baptist. He enjoyed carpentry and working with machinery.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Lorene Miller Robbins of the home, to whom he was married June 9, 1948; three sons, David Robbins and Carl Robbins, both of Springdale, and Phillip Robbins of Lowell; one brother, Garland Robbins of Lowell; one grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sisco Chapel in Springdale with Dr. Gene L. Jeffries officiating. Burial will be in Silent Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Sisco Chapel. {mn}

Mildred Daniel Clark, 83, of Gravette died Aug. 31, 1998, at Gravette Medical Center. She was born Sept. 27, 1914, to George M. and Dora Gwartney Hart near Hiwasse (now part of Bella Vista). She was an Avon representative for many years and a 75-year member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday-school teacher. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Terry C. Daniel, in April 1976, and by her second husband, Roy Eldon Clark, on July 22, 1985.

Suirvivors include two daughters, Lora Nell Stewart of Edmond, Okla., and Martha Louann Deatherage of Gravette; one brother, Herbert E. Hart of Roseville, Calif.; four grandchildren, Brenda Williams of Atlanta, Ga., Kathy Deatherage of Gravette, Mike Burnett of Tulsa, Okla., and Terry Deatherage of Gravette; five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church east of Gravette with pastor Hurley Holcomb and pastor Evan Faulkner officiating. Graveside services will be at the same site.

Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. The family rquests memorials to Mt. Dr. Carroll Adkins Brown, 86, of Bella Vista died Sept. 1, 1998, at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville. He was born July 5, 1912, in Norfolk, Neb., to Jerry Arthur and Goldie Inez Brown. He received his B.S. and M.D. degrees from the Universtiy of Nebraska. He received most of his neurosurgical training during World War II as second in command of the neurosurgical wing of the Army Allied Forces in Europe. He was a neurosurgeon in Sioux City, Iowa, for 28 years; a founder and first vice president of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and past president of Woodbury County Medical Society and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Sioux City. Upon retirement, the neurosurgial wing of the new Marion Health Center in Sioux City was renamed in his honor. He moved to Bella Vista in 1977 and was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Imogene Montgomery Brown, in 1982; one son.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Lucille Gubbins Brown of Bella Vista, to whom he was married in 1985; one son and daughter-in-law, David Arthur Brown and Jackee Lynn of Russellville; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan Jean Booth and Robert E. of Sioux City; one brother, Jerry A. Brown Jr. of Norfolk; three grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bella Vista Community Church with the Rev. David McKay officiating. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Paul R. Bradshaw Jr., 53, of Springdale died Sept. 1, 1998, at Fayetteville City Hospital. He was born Sept. 17, 1944, in Pine Bluff to Paul R. Bradshaw Sr. and Nita Holliway Bradshaw. He was an investment counselor.

Robert Earl Conklin, 48, of Springdale died Aug. 27, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born April 2, 1950, in New York, N.Y., to Earl Joseph and Dorothy Marion Kepple Conklin. He was a draftsman for Victor Manufacturing Co. in Springdale and a Navy veteran. He was a member of the Episcopal Church.

Lowell Eldon Cawood, 71, of Springdale died Sept. 1, 1998, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born June 18, 1927, in Centerton to Guy and Viva Holland Cawood. He was former owner of L.E. Cawood Trucking Co. in Springdale and was a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Nichols Cawood, in 1976; one brother; one sister.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dave Cawood and Debbie of Springdale; three daughters and one son-in-law, Lana Rogers and Mike of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Janet Lawson of Fayetteville and Jacki Kelley of Lowell; two brothers, Leon Cawood and Ronnie Cawood, both of Springdale; five sisters, Della Mitchell of Mountain Home, Alta Faye Lee of Topeka, Kan., Melva Wages, Linda Gorsline and Jane Truitt, all of Springdale; two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sisco Chapel in Springdale with the Rev. Cindy Stutting officiating. Burial will be in Benton County Memorial Park.

Mary Drummond, 83, of Elkins died Sept. 1, 1998, at her home. She was born March 11, 1915, in Delaney to Johnny and Della Barker Wilson. She was a homemaker and a member of Full Gospel Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ira Drummond, on July 15, 1980.

Survivors include two sons, Curtis Drummond and Leon Drummond, both of Elkins; five daughters, Aneta Osburn and Kathleen Hughes, both of Elkins, Sue Melone of Durham, Brenda Durell of Wesley and Judy Lawhorn of Japton; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bidville Cemetery in Crawford County with the Rev. Johnny Case officiating.

Irene Mitchell Mullens, 78, of Prairie Grove died Sept. 1, 1998, at her home. She was born May 11, 1920, in Beaver County, Okla., to Robert and Annie Smith Mitchell. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Prairie Grove.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Mullens of the home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church with Roy Bingenheimer officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove.

Elmer Leroy Chaney, 72, of the Logan community died Sept. 2, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Monarch, Okla., to Harry and Zella Thomas Chaney. He grew up in Gravette and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with Company 250, Headquarters 37th Infantry Division in the Philippines and received the Purple Heart. He had been a resident of the Logan community for 39 years and was a livestock farmer and a builder.

Survivors include his wife, Alba Dean Freeman Chaney of the home, to whom he was married Feb. 14, 1953; two sons, Elvin Chaney and Tim Chaney, both of the Logan community; two daughters, Twilla Woody of Crocker, Mo., and Angela Nixon of Little Rock; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his stepmother, Ilah Chaney of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Larry Chaney of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Willa Roark of Wichita; one half sister, Tamara Esposito of Wichita.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs with the Rev. Ben Woody officiating. Burial will be in Highfill Cemetery.

Laura Lee Rauch Head, 61, of Winslow died Aug. 31, 1998, at Gravette. She was born March 2, 1937, in Batavia, N.Y., to Clarence and Loretta Camarata Leaton. She was a Baptist and enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Rauch, and by one daughter.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Debra Ann Russow and Wayne of Gravette; two grandchildren, Michelle Rene Meservey and Brett Anthony Meservey, both of Gravette.

Services will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
