26 October 1887...Mary Walker was born in Murray County, Tennessee, January 12, 1803, died October 19, 1887. She was married to Thomas J. Walker in 1823, and moved with her husband to Arkansas in the years 1833, and settled near Cane Hill, in Washington County, where they lived two or three years. Becoming dissatisfied there they moved to Pope County, Arkansas, and settled near Dover, where they raised a large family of children.

Her husband died in 1858, her oldest son, Dr. J. T. Walker, in July, 1860.

She joined the Christian church when she was 19 years of age, and lived a member and Christian. When they settled near Dover there being no Christian church at Dover, they attached themselves to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and worshipped God with them for several years. At the organization of the Chirstian Church in Pope County she attached herself to it and lived and died a member of the Christian Church. On her death bed she expressed herself as having no fears.

She leaves seven daughters to mourn their loss. She was the mother of thirteen children, six of whom and her husband preceded her to the grave.
