Nadine is survived by her loving husband, Vernon Smith, of the home; her mother, Ethel Jane Villines; her two sons, Harold Smith and Larry Smith; her five daughters, Deborah Merriman, Joann Blevins, Janet Hamilton, Louise Serber and Charlotte Dunnigan; her brother, Sonny Villines, her sisters, Betty Jean Swallow, Wanda Donaldson; 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren. Christeson Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral but the obituary does not give the cemetery where she was buried. |

John K. Lancaster, 50, of Fayetteville died July 30, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born July 15, 1950, in Batesville, Ind., to Samuel Otis and Isabelle Ann Kelley Lancaster. He was an Army veteran and a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Thomajean Lancaster of the home; two daughters, Robin Michelle Holmes of New Sharon, Maine, and Melissa Sue Lancaster of the home; his mother of Muncie, Ind.; three brothers, Wendell Lancaster of St. Cloud, Fla., James Francis Lancaster and Samuel Otis Lancaster Jr., both of Muncie; four sisters, Brenda Taylor of Indiana, Pattie Sue Looby of Michigan, Sandy Williams of Wabash, Ind., and Jean Harrison of Tennessee; two grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints in Fayetteville with Bishop Jim Guthrie officiating. Arrangements are by Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville. Burial will be in Fayetteville National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. |

Jewell B. Meredith, 87, of Siloam Springs died July 29, 2000, at her home. She was born July 13, 1913, to Sager and Vaugie McElhanon Buchanan. She was a longtime resident of Siloam Springs, was a retired teacher and was active in area bridge clubs. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Siloam Springs. Her husband, Polk Meredith, preceded her in death in 1981. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Louise Breese and David of Clifton, Va., and Matsy McCabe and Mark of Broken Arrow, Okla.; five grandchildren. Luevada Parson, 90, of Springdale died July 29, 2000, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. She was born April 4, 1910, in Wharton to James 'Jim' Washington and Mary Mandy Lane Walker. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Her husband, Carl Parson, preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1975. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dillon G. Parson and Nellene of Springdale and J.C. Parson and Esther of Bentonville; one brother, Troy Walker of Springdale; one sister, Clorene Samuels of Springdale; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville with the Rev. Roy I. Cain and the Rev. Loy Counts officiating. Burial will be in Upper Campground Cemetery near Kingston. Pallbearers will be Dillon Parson, J.C. Parson, Kenny Parson, Shamar Habermehl, Aaron Habermehl and C.L. Griggs. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Bradley, Raymond Walker, Orval Walker, Wayne Walker, Glen Inman and Josh Allison. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. |

Ray Salsbury, 92, of Goshen died July 30, 2000, at Fayetteville City Hospital. He was born Dec. 8, 1907, in Washington County to Robert Edward and Roxie E. Franklin Salsbury. He was a retired farmer and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He became a member of the Round Mountain Missionary Baptist Church on Sept. 17, 1922, and served as a deacon there for 56 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Merle Gladys Tisdale Salsbury, on June 30, 1994. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Joe Salsbury and Shirley of Goshen; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; five brothers, Vernon Salsbury of the Black Oak community, Robert Salsbury of Farmington, Hogan Salsbury of Kokomo, Ind., Ward Salsbury of Elkins and Vol Salsbury of Fayetteville; one sister, Maxine Salsbury Tando of the Round Mountain community. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Round Mountain Missionary Baptist Church with Lewis Neal and the Rev. Luke George officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Round Mountain Missionary Baptist Church, 296 S. Richard Kirby, 53, of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Bentonville, died Dec. 18, 1998 at the Baylor Medical Center. He was born Oct. 12, 1945, in Bentonville to Marion Lee and Gladys Sylvia Weiser Kirby. He was a truck driver, a member of the Teamsters Union #745, a member of Masonic Lodge #1333 and served with the 82nd Airborne in Vietnam. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Lee Martell Kirby who he married Aug. 25, 1991 in Bentonville; four sons, Lance Kirby of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Christopher Elias of Chandler, Ariz., John Lee Kirby and Dustin Kirby, both of Arlington;one daughter, Fancy Sweeney of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Wayne Kirby of Rogers; his parents of Vaughn; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Callison-Lough Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Barron Cemetery. Roy Eugene Corley, 76, of Lowell died Dec. 23, 1998. He was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Lowell to Roy Eugene and Cora Ford Corley. He was a lifetime resident of Lowell and was retired from Daisy Manufacturing Co. He was a member of the Foxhunters Association and was an avid outdoorsman. Survivors include his wife, Blanche Corley of the home, to whom he was married Oct. 17, 1942; two daughters, Caroletta McFeeters and Connie Breeden, both of Bentonville; one sister, Lillie Davis of Bentonville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Rogers. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville. Dallas Edwin Small, 86, of Cave Springs died Dec. 24, 1997, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers. He was born Dec. 4, 1912, in Severance, Kan., to Arthur Mason and Della Blanche Caudle Small. He was a retired truck driver. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Scott, to whom he was married Nov. 27, 1967. Survivors include two sons, Thomas Small of Riverside, Calif., and Glen Small of Gentry; one daughter, Mary A. Collini of Cave Springs; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Max Hollis and Irl Collins; a son, Arlon Collins; a sister, Rosanne Greenhaw; and a brother, Alvin Reddell. She is survived by her son and his wife, Ira and Vinnie Collins of Berryville; four daughters and their husbands, Oneta and Charles Daniels of Kansas City, Kan., Merlene and William Brown of Lenexa, Kan., Glenda and Roger Ogden of Deer and Tresia and Alan Dean of Harrison; one half-sister, Joanne Coleman of Harrison; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.{nct} |

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Clyde Champlin and Leo Breckenridge Champlin. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Susie V. Harris Champlin; three sons, Harold R. Champlin of Cave City, Bobby K. Champlin of Phoenix, Ariz. and Donald L. Champlin of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Virginia M. Bower of Cave City and Phyllis F. Tuttle of Cleveland, Texas; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel at Cave City with Rev. Allen Brown officiating. Burial followed in the Cave City Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Fred Bower, Jr., John Bower, Michael Bower, Stephen Tuttle, Rondall Tuttle and Jeff Champlin. Honorary pallbearer was his great-grandson Aaron Bower. {nct} |

Mrs. Griffith was born on October 8, 1901, near Bass, Arkansas, the daughter of Enos Richard and Virginia Lucinda Duck McCutcheon. She was named Sadosha Adeline McCutcheon at birth, but her family always called her Addie, so later in life, she changed the name to just Addie M. , the initial M stood for McCutcheon. She had lived in the Modesto-Turlock area since 1935. She worked as a food server at the Ceres Senior Citizens Center. During World War II, she worked at the Army's Hammond General Hospital in Modesto. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was a member of the Church of Christ, in Turlock. She is survived by two daughters: Onalou Crow Lovelady-Carter of Delhi and Florene Crow Boyd of Livingston, California; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; four husbands, William Crow, Chauncey Compton, Goddard Griffith and Clyde Jay; her sons Byron Edward and William Versol Crow; four brothers, Henry E, Johnnie R., Gaither, and Albert McCutcheon, five sisters, Nancy Arphenia 'Feenie' Reddell, Fannie Ann Cook, Golden Argia Reddell, Elise Lively, and Cora Pack; and by one grandson Edwin Clint Lovelady, A memorial service for Addie McCutcheon Griffith was held Wednesday,
July 7, at the Turlock Church of Christ building. Officiating was her
grandson Vernon Boyd, with other Family Members, and the local Minister, Derek Overstreet. Interment was at Acacia Memorial Park, in Modesto, CA. |

Jessie Montgomery Owens Gostnell, 94, of Green Forest died Jan. 5, 2001, at Eureka Springs Hospital. She was born March 10, 1906, at Alabam to Henry Lee and Nora Denney Montgomery. She was a homemaker and served for nine years as postmistress at Alabam. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Green Forest. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Lem Owens, on Jan. 9, 1975, and Ray Gostnell, on March 10, 2000. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, J.L. Owens and Elaine of Owasso, Okla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean Thompson and Milton of Huntsville and Mary Jo Fletcher and Gerald of Cassville, Mo.; one sister, Mary Granke of Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville with Mark Bryant and Wayne Montgomery officiating. Burial will be in Alabam Cemetery.
