Floyd Sylvester Hepler, 76, of Marble died Aug. 20, 2001, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Jan. 13, 1925, in Driver (Mississippi County) AR to Deward and Mattie Ayers Hepler. He was a Christian, a carpenter and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 10021. He retired from the Department of Water and Power for the city of Los Angeles, Calif., after 20 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Williams Hepler, to whom he was married 56 years; three sons, Floyd Hepler Jr. of Washington, D.C., Tim Hepler of Marble and Jim Hepler of Aurora; two daughters, Jackie Bohrn of Eldon, Mo., and Kathy Daniels of Farmington; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. today (Tuesday, August 21st) at Lower Campground Church with the Rev. Jim Hepler and Rick Daniels officiating.

Burial will be in Lower Campground Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville. {mn,mcr}

Gene Webb, a resident of Berryville, Arkansas was born December 21, 1924 in Berryville, a son of Artie Jesse and Dove Pearl (Keen) Webb. He departed this life Sunday, November 14, 2004 in his home at the age of 79.

Mr. Webb was a veteran, having served his country with the U.S. Army. Before his retirement he worked as a welder. He was a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church in Berryville.

On April 25, 1994 he was united in marriage with Neva E. Webb who survives him. He is also survived by three daughters, Verona and husband Ken Mercer of Jefferson City, Missouri, Flora Eleen and husband Harry Spann of Harrison, Arkansas and Phyllis Ann and James Edwards of Pollock, Louisiana; one sister, Clara and husband Wayne Bell of Wichita, Kansas; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera Mae (Corbin) Webb. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Ima Jean Webb and step-mother, Ina Jackson Webb.

Burial took place in Gobbler Cemetery.

Jane Peterson Curry, 50, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2001. She was born Oct. 16, 1950, in Fayetteville, the daughter of Leonard 'Pete' and Katherine 'Kaye' Peterson of Fayetteville. She worked as a nutritional planner for the EOA Head Start Program for the past 15 years. She was instrumental in development of the nutrition program for many of the Head Start centers in Northwest Arkansas.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Curry of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Misty Robinson Byrum, of Springdale; one sister, Linda Peterson of Collierville, Tenn.; one brother-in-law, Patrick Reynolds of Rogers; other family and friends.

One daughter, Karon Lynn Peterson, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Nelson's Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 3, 2001, at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The family requests memorials be made to Northwest Arkansas EOA Head Start programs. {mn}

Bobby Dean Terry, 58, of Fayetteville died Feb. 12, 2002, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Feb. 8, 1944, in Fayetteville to Oliver and Ruby Pritchard Terry. He was a carpenter, a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Jessee Terry of the home, to whom he was married July 1, 1995; two sons, Travis Dean Terry of Lowell and Jason Wayne Terry of Springdale; three daughters, Cyndy Cunningham of Lowell, Jamie Kay Pinkley and Kimberly Marie Pinkley, both of Springdale; three brothers, Donald Terry of Fayetteville, Ricky Terry and Alvin Terry, both of Springdale; three sisters, Wanda Porter, Erma McGaugh and Gladys King, all of Springdale; one grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday (Feb. 15, 2002)at Sisco Chapel in Springdale with the Rev. Jack Anglin officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jason Terry, Travis Terry, L.D. Watson, Mike McGaugh, Howard Porter and Dale Hennington. Honorary pallbearers will be David King and Stacy Lawrence. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. {mn}

Dorothy Hattie Ostermann Kester, 79, of Wichita died Sept. 29, 2001. She was a retired registered nurse.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce Kester and Dale Kester, both of Wichita; three daughters, Denise Kester of Lawrence, Kan., Mary Scott of Fayetteville and Amy Salazar of Wichita; two sisters, Mary Havey of Charles City, Iowa, and Darlene Sherstad of Grantsburg, Wis.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

William Clarence Maxwell, 81, of Rogers died June 17, 2000, at a local nursing home. He was born April 28, 1919, in Columbia, Tenn., to Linton A. and Janie McClain Maxwell.

He had lived in the area for five years, moving from Blytheville. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He was a carpenter, a member of the American Legion and a Protestant.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Maxwell of the home; two daughters, Judge Ann Pugh of Memphis, Tenn., and Betty Ray of Jacksonville; one brother, Jack Maxwell of Auburn, Calif.; one grandson, Todd Ray of Rogers; one great-grandson.

Marion E. 'Bud' Brown, 80, of Jasper, died Sunday, Aug. 26 (2001) at home. Funeral was 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Coffman Chapel in Harrison with Bro. Terry Eddings officiating. Burial was in Kilbourn Cemetery at Pindall.

He was born Oct. 27, 1920 at Carver to the late Will and Maudie Gosnell Brown. He was a heavy equipment operator for Cash and Nelle Construction Co. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He lived in Texas prior to returning to this area in 1960.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Winnie Brown; a brother, Lee Willis and a sister, Roxie Daniel who also passed away Aug. 26 (2001).

Survivors are his wife, Georgia Brown of Jasper; his stepdaughter, Estalee Martin of Batavia; two stepsons, William A. Henderson of Springdale and Shelley Henderson of Oklahoma; 10 stepgrandchildren and four great-stepgrandchildren.

Mary H. Mahurin, 85, of Washburn died July 11, 2001, at Medicalodge in Neosho, Mo. She was born May 12, 1916, in Washburn to Richard Butler and Katie Clare Day. Her husband, Hershell Benjamin Mahurin, died April 4, 1968. She was educated in a one-room schoolhouse in Star Hollow. She was a homemaker and a life resident of Washburn.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Richard B. Bahurin and Jane of Rogers; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty J. Fletcher and Pete of Gravette; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

Arala Bertha Filter, 96, of Bentonville died March 22, 1999, at Bentonville Manor Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 1, 1903, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Herman and Hulda Ehlert Braun. She was a homemaker and member of the Bella Vista Lutheran Church. She moved to Bella Vista in September 1994 from Brown Deer, Wis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Filter; three daughters.

Survivors include one son, Don Filter of Bella Vista; two sisters-in-law, Loraine Filter of Brown Deer and Elsie Thornsberry of Thiensville, Wis.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Audry Smith, 87, of Huntsville died Oct. 23, 1999, at Meadowview Lodge Nursing Home in Huntsville. She was born Sept. 28, 1912, in Blair, Okla., to Grannville and Nancy Cathrine Tatum Walker. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Huntsville and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jewel A. Smith, in 1988.

William John Hefnider, 88, of Springdale died Oct. 6, 1999, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Sept. 14, 1911, in Unidica, Russia, to George and Marguerita Hein Hefnider. He was a retired farmer and baker and a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Springdale.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Syring Hefnider of the home; one son, William D. Hefnider of Hastings, Minn.; two daughters, La Vaun F. Soucek of Kansas City, Kan., and Norma J. Norma I. Puffinbarger, 73, of Seligman died July 11, 2001, at Red Rose Inn in Cassville, Mo. She was born Aug. 28, 1927, in Gladstone, Ill., to Harry and Goldie McNoll Warner. She grew up in Gladstone and was a secretary for Churchill Chemical in Galesburg, Ill., for 13 years, before moving to Seligman. She was an avid bingo player, and she enjoyed reading and watching TV.

Survivors include her husband, Lyman L. Puffinbarger, to whom she was married Nov. 9, 1963; one son and daughter-in-law, Leslie Puffinbarger and Mary of Seligman; one sister, Ione Tracy of Galesburg; two grandsons, Chad Puffinbarger of Seligman and Eric Puffinbarger serving in the Marines in San Diego, Calif.

Graveside services were July 13 at Seligman Cemetery with the Rev. Doyle Russell officiating. Arrangements were by Williamson Funeral Home in Cassville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. {mn}

Thomas Agnew Johnston, 79, of Bella Vista died Jan. 1, 2000.

He was born Jan. 23, 1920, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, to Joseph Stuart and Sarah Little Johnston. He moved to Bella Vista in 1983, and served in the Royal Air Force during World War II.

Chester 'Boo' Holman, 91, of Berryville died Jan. 28, 2002, at Berryville. He was born Sept. 7, 1910, in Madison County to John and Ellen Boren Holman. He was a Baptist and was retired from Hanby Lumber Co.

Susanna Mae 'Susie' Sparks, 78, of Springdale died Tuesday, June 22, 1999 at the Northwest Medical Center. She was born January 7, 1921 in Franklin County, the daughter of John and Ida Howe Barnett.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Free Holiness Church in Springdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Sparks and also by two sons.

Survivors include: three sons, Ed, David and Ronnie Sparks, all of Springdale; four daughters, Ida Niccum of Huntsville, Faye Fretz of Springdale, Anna Tackett of Lowell and Ruthie Mize of Vidor, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.

Ollie Trixie Jackson, 72, of Rolla died April 1, 2001, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. She was born Feb. 6, 1929, at Kingston to William Grover and Della Cook Hathorn. Formerly a resident of Springdale, she was a retired nurse and a member of Caudle Avenue Baptist Church in Springdale.

Faye Anne Morgan-Garver, 61, of Bella Vista died July 6, 2001, at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville. She was born Feb. 24, 1940, in Lowell, Wis., to Elmer and Edith Brown Kelm.

She moved to Bella Vista five years ago from Beaver Dam, Wis. She was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church. She was an active gardener and a watercolorist, and she enjoyed antiques and classical music.

She was preceded in death by her second husband, Don Muehlbach.

Survivors include her husband, Rex Garver of Bella Vista; her parents of Mayville, Wis.; two sons, Patrick Morgan of Swisher, Iowa, and Kyle Morgan of Horicon, Wis.; two brothers, Roy Kelm of New Holstein, Wis., and Boyd Kelm of Fond du Lac, Wis.; one sister, Fern Lamers of Milton, Wis.; one granddaughter.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday (July 11, 2001) at Bella Vista Community Church, with the Rev. David McKay officiating. Clarence Franklin 'Frank' White, 74, of Clifty died Sept. 27, 2001, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born March 14, 1927, in Spring Valley to Walter William and Martha L. Hancock White. He was a farmer and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of Hayes-Smith Post 137 of the American Legion in Huntsville.

Rolf Zimmermann, 92, of Rogers died Aug. 20, 2000, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers.

He was born Nov. 18, 1907, in Rogers to Fritz and Helena Gebeschus Zimmerman.

Survivors include his wife, Marge Zimmermann of the home; three sons, Erik Zimmermann of Lincroft, N.J., Jack Brouhard of Las Vegas, Nev., and Michael Brouhard of Lake Oswego, Ore.; two daughters, Leni Zimmermann Patten of Mundelein, Ill., and LeeAnne Wolanyk of Rockford, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Darrell W. Taylor, 48, of Clifty died Sunday, February 4, 2001, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born March 1, 1952, in Vandoser, Mo., the son of William Allen and Gladys Oma Barnett Taylor. He was an employee of PGI Nonwovens, formerly Scott Paper Co., for 15 years. He was of the Pentecostal faith and loved the outdoors and electronics.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Desirae Crow, and a grandson, Daniel Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Gean Taylor; four daughters, Marsha Buskirk of Bentonville, Sandra Taylor of Springdale, Loretta Crown of Forum and Kimberly Weaver of Elmore, Okla.; two sons, Brian Barber of Elmore and Steven Barber of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Janis Canada of Cave Springs and Patricia Walker of Springdale; 13 grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8 at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. Burial will be in Cave Springs Cemetery.

Alvie W. Boatright, 75, of Fayetteville died April 19, 1999, at his home. He was born July 27, 1923, in Greenland to Berta Albert and Alma Webb Boatright.

He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and the Vietnam War, retiring after 34 years as a chief master sergeant. He earned several service awards, including the Bronze Star and four Air Medals. He was a member of Snyder Baptist Church of Fayetteville (N.C.) and was a 32nd-degree Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Jimmie L. Boatright of the home; two sons, Col. Rodney L. Boatright of Arlington, Va., and Zane R. Boatright of Midwest City, Okla.; one sister, Geraldine Stanger of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren.

James S. 'Jim' Hogan, 73, of Bella Vista died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at his home in Bella Vista. He was born June 1, 1928, in Slater, Mo., to James Edwin Hogan and Lida Shelton Hogan.

He and his wife, Mary Katherine, moved to Bella Vista in 1989 from Kansas City, Mo. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and St. Bernard Men's Club. He was a member of the Retired Firefighters Association, American Legion and Tribe of Micosay (Boy Scouts of America). He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, James S. Hogan II.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Katherine Hogan of Bella Vista; daughter-in-law, Vicki Hogan of Liberty, Mo.; one brother, Ronald Hogan of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Mary Kathleen Singleton of Columbia, Mo.; two grandchildren, Lauren E. Hogan and Michael P. Hogan; one stepgrandchild, Gary Rittermeyer and his wife, Joellen of Blue Springs, Mo.; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Courtney and Jacob Rittermeyer.

Merle Armes, 82, of Springdale died Dec. 25, 2001, at Springdale. She was born May 6, 1919, in Kingston to William Isaac and Mary Ladusky Kesner Armes. She was a homemaker and a member of Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Springdale.

She is survived by one sister, Delma Clark of Springdale; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday (Dec.28,2001) at Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Eldon Bagwell and the Rev. Loy Counts officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Kingston Cemetery under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale.

Funeral services for Walter Cowan of near Fallsville, who drowned in War Eagle River south of Huntsville in a truck accident January 29. Services were held Tuesday, February 2 at 2 p.m. at the Case Cemetery. Rev. Jim D. Reynolds of Mossville conducted the services with arrangements by the Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.

Cowan's survivors are a son, Dale Cowan of Tulsa, Okla.; two daugters, Mrs. Laurita Cowell of Hot Springs, and Mrs. Barbara Jones of Tulsa; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cowan of Fallsville; four brothers, Albert, of Hayfork, Calif., Jack of Stockton, Calif., Brock of Tulsa, and Alton Cowan of Fallsville; five sisters, Mrs. Erna Mooney of Fallsville, Mrs. Minnie James of Checotah, Okla., Mrs. Mattie Hammond of Tulsa, Mrs. Alfa Mack of Fallsville, Mrs. Belle Arbaugh of Oark; and two grandchildren. {mcr}

Axie May Ramsey, 91, of Huntsville, Arkansas, died Saturday April 24, 1999 at Meadowview Lodge in Huntsville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Clarksville, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Ramsey, a daughter, Jolena York, a grandson, Larry Lee and her parents, Henry and Mary Sams Young.

Survivors include: one sister, Arah Skaggs, of Jacksonville, Arkansas and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. April 26, 1999 at the Nail Baptist Church with burial in the Nail Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville. Pallbearers were Johnny Floyd Skaggs, Jr. James Eric Skaggs, Ed Young, Ted Young, Ed Murrell and Billy Lee. {mcr}

Mrs. Geo. Dickey, who has been lingering for several months with consumption, died at her home Wednesday last and was laid to rest in the Rushing cemetery. She leaves a sorrowing husband and several small children.

Mrs. Lizzie Dickey died at her home Friday evening. She had not been in good health for some time and paralysis struck her heart,. Although her death was sudden, it was a shick to everyone. She leaves a husband, three children, parents and several brothers to mourn her death.

Lillie Mae Eubanks, 71 of Russellville died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005 at Washington Regional Medical Ceneter in Fayetteville. She was born Nov. 2, 1933, in San Bernardino, Calif., and was the daughter of the late John and Effie Willingham Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Henry Eubanks; a sister, Lottie Titterington; and brother, John Thompson. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Walden Hathorn and Steve Hathorn of Huntsville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lyle and Donna Titterington of Ocala, Fla., Scott and Teresa Titterington of Waldron, and Robert and Melinda Eubanks of Russellville; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Perkins of Hollis, Okla. Graveside service and burial will be at 11 AM Friday at Rushing Cemetery with the Rev. Redmond Eubanks officiating. Arrangements are by Lemley Funeral Service.

Duane Letsche, 73, of Colcord, Oklahoma and formerly of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Saturday, January 24, 1998, at 10:10 p.m., at the hospital in Siloam Springs, Arkansas due to an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, at 1:30 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Richard Arndt will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday. There will be military rites at the graveside by L. A. Wescott VFW Post #2253. Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mr. Letsche was born on June 4, 1924 near Remsen, Iowa to Gotthilf and Stella (Stemmermann) Letsche. He graduated from Aurelia High School in 1942. He entered the U. S. Army in 1943 and served with Company C, 48th Armored Infantry Battalion, 7th Armored Division until being captured by the Germans on October 29, 1944. He remained a POW until being liberated on May 2, 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Following the war he did construction work at Thule Air Force Base, Greenland. He owned a well drilling business, and was active in several businesses. He had resided in northwestern Arkansas and northeastern Oklahoma for about the last 20 years. He was a Life Member of L. A. Wescott VFW Post #2253 and the Buena Vista

Survivors include two brothers: John Letsche, rural Cherokee; and Lyle Letsche and his wife, Lorene, Cherokee; two nephews: Terry Letsche of Iowa City, Iowa, and Todd Letsche, Burnsville, Minnesota; and a sister-in-law, June Letsche of Lockwood, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Elmer Letsche in 1988.
