Honorary pallbearers include sons-in-laws and grandsons. The son of Floyd and Walcie Kilgore was born March 10, 1937, in Jasper. He had lived most of his life in Newton County; was a member of the Buffalo Church and Senior Center; and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pool and bowling. He married Connie Smith on May 22, 1969, in Harrisonville, Mo. and worked at Flex Steel in Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Orville Wise. He is survived by his wife, Connie Kilgore of Jasper; children, Stephen Kilgore of Jasper, Sheila Crawford of Illinois, Peggy Eddings of Western Grove and Barbara Teach and Audra Garrison, both of Jasper; two sisters, Alta Clayborn of Missouri and Leta Henderson of Wayton; one brother, Orville Kilgore of Missouri; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews along with other family and friends. {hdt} | |||||||||||

| John P. Doyle, 74, of Fayetteville died July 20, 1999, at his home. He was born June 21, 1925, in Woodbridge Township, N.J., to John P. and Sarah Elizabeth Ray Doyle. He was an independent carpenter in the Fayetteville area for many years and was a Presbyterian. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1964 from New Jersey. His care giver was Laura Kliman of Fayetteville. Survivors include one son, Robert Doyle of Idaho; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Nelson's Funeral Home in Fayetteville with the Rev. Ralph Thiesse officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery in Springdale. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ava Keef in 1994; a son, Jim Keef in 1997; two brothers, James and Wilburn and three sisters, Ruby, Martha and Pauline. Survivors include a son, Jerry Lee Keef of Jasper; daughter-in-law Delberta Keef of Jasper; three sisters, Helen, Mary and Mildred, all of California; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral is at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at the Jasper Assembly of God Church with Troy Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Jasper Cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper. The son of Jessie Mae (Collins) Houston and the late Harley Houston was born on February 2, 1934 in Pruitt. He worked as a tile-layer and was a veteran. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister. He is survived by three sons, Brian Keener, Shawn Keener and Austin Houston, all of Harrison; two daughters, Kris Schnedler of Medeopolis, Iowa and Anna Marie Boyles of Mt. James Hipp, age 55, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away from complications following bypass surgery on Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. James was born August 1, 1949, in Harrison, the son of Clinton Charles (C. C.) and Ora Lee (Smith) Hipp. His father preceded him in death. James was a graduate of Harrison High School. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine in Vietnam. He was employed by and was a student of Spartan Aviation, where he pursued his love of flying. James' wonderful sense of humor touched the lives of everyone he met and his stories will be remembered forever and will always bring a smile every time they are repeated. His love for people and his kind and generous nature resulted in many lifelong friends who will greatly miss him. Jim was always ready to help both friends and strangers alike. James Hipp is survived by his son, Jamie Hipp, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; his mother, Ora Lee Hipp, of Harrison; his sister and brother-in-law, Billie Jean and Winfield Payne, of Riverside, California; his brother and sister-in-law, Gary L. and Patsy M. Hipp, of Harrison; his nieces, Haley L. Hipp of Harrison and Carmen M. Fye of Riverside; his great-niece, Tana Jane Fye-Stager, of Riverside; and a host of other family and friends throughout the community. Rev. Dave Smith and Rev. James Bryant will officiate the funeral service. Carl was retired as a Tech Sergeant from the US Air Force, having served in the WWII, Korean and Vietnam conflicts. During his military duty, he served as a pilot; a tail gunner in a carrier based fighter-bomber; and aircraft mechanic; a specialty dog trainer and handler; and a guard for the Military Police. After his active duty, he continued to work with the Military on such projects as the SR-71 and the U-2. Carl also retired as a Harrison School District bus driver after ten years of service. When he wasn't busy being retired, he was busy helping others do anything they needed done, which would more than likely turn into another job for a while. So he never really retired until sickness overcame him. Carl Dickey is survived by his loving wife, Lacona Dickey, of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Lisa Dickey, of Bartlett, Tennessee; his three daughters, Linda Milsap, and her husband, Jon Dirk, of Washington, Missouri, Deborah Strickland, and her husband, David, of Harrison, and Shirley Ann Dickey of Mt. Home, Arkansas; a sister, Nelda Burrow, of Benton, Arkansas; two brothers, Wayne Dickey of St. Peters, Missouri and Jack Dickey of Springdale, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Travis, Becky, Blake, Adam, Diana and Caroline; a great-grandchild, Amber; and a host of other family and friends throughout the community. She was a school teacher since the age of 16, and retired as a Professor for Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. One of her students, James C. Hefley wrote a book called 'Way Back in the Hills,' mentioning her influence on his life. She was a member of the Gaither Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Howard Kent; four sisters, Vera, Verne, Niva and Opal; and two brothers, Hope and Carroll. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann Kent Prowitt of Arlington, Va.; and nieces and nephews, Sharon Lockhart, Mary Lee Vines, Joane Wear, Delight Hall, Pauline Blume, Lou Van Winkle, Dale Wayne Strong and Watson Strong. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2002 in Holt Memorial Chapel, Harrison, Ark., with the Rev. Tim Cooper officiating. Committal service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Mt. Judea Cemetery. | Richard L. Hollis, 45, of St. Peters, Mo., died March 22, 2001, at DePaul Hospital in St. Peters, Mo. He was born Sept. 21, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo. to Richard and Barbara Edwards Hollis. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1994 as a Sgt. First Class and was employed as a computer specialist for the Army Publishing Agency. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Adams Hollis of the home, to whom he was married Jan. 7, 1994, in Pulaski County, Mo.; one son, Steven Hollis of Germany; and one sister, Lena Bland of Centerton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Burns Funeral Home in Bentonville. Burial will be in the Centerton Cemetery with full military honors by Ft. Sill.
