Nadene Jones, 90, of Green Forest died Friday, Mar. 1 (2002) at Carroll Regional Medical Center in Berryville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Mar. 4 at the Green Forest Church of Christ with Bill McFarland and Ronnie Adams officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 3 at Holt Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Pickens Cemetery at Green Forest with Rocky, Eddie, Eric and Jay Jones, David Evans and James Norris serving as pallbearers. The daughter of the late Sterling and Lola Stanhope McNeil was born on Dec. 15, 1911. She was a lifetime resident of Carroll County and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Green Forest Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Tommy Edd Jones. She is survived by her husband, Hillman Jones; five grandchildren, Rocky Jones and his children, Collin and Madaline, of Rogers, Eddie Jones and his children, Tommy John, Justin Luke, and Landon Paul, of Calhoun, Ga., Michelle Evans and her children, Kaleigh, Kendall, and Billy of Green Forest, Eric Jones of Green Forest and Jay Jones and his daughter, Emma, of Rogers; a sister, Clara Lee Stone of Green Forest; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Jones Waggoner of Cloudcroft, N. Charles Edward Berning, 75, of Bella Vista died Feb. 25, 2001, at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville. He was born March 30, 1925, in Cosby, Mo., to Theodore and Helena Wagenfield Berning. He was an associate member of the Bella Vista First United Methodist Church and a member of Cosby Zion United Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Velda June Berning, to whom he was married 49 years; two sons, Keith Edward Berning of Jenera, Ohio, and Lynn Charles Berning of Rochester, Minn.; one daughter, Joylene June Price of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Dorothy Peck of St. Joseph, Mo., and Florence Krull of Helena, Mo.; six grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. Larry Williams and the Rev. Jocelyn Bernholdt officiating. Harry Wilson Dodd, 88, of Garfield died Feb. 26, 2001, at his home. He was born June 29, 1912, in Oakwood, Okla., to William C. and Harriett Buchanan Dodd. He moved to the area in 1987 from California, where he was office manager at Nash Decamp Produce Co. He was a member of the Bella Vista Presbyterian Church and was a 50-year Mason. He enjoyed golf, fishing and bird hunting. He was a former Rogers resident. His wife, Mabel Dodd, died in 1997. Survivors include three sisters, Audrey Dalrymple of Frenchtown, N.J., Hazel Kemp of Edmond, Okla., and Doris Buys of Blue Springs, Mo.; one nephew, Jim Pilley of Garfield. Robert Virgil Lunsford, 84, of Rogers died Feb. 27, 2001, at Bentonville Manor. He was born July 13, 1916, in Chester, Ill., to Albert and Rosa Barnes Lunsford. He moved to Rogers in August 2000 from Chester. He was a member of the VFW and the Chester Boat Club. He was a Coast Guard veteran during World War II on LST 830. His wife of 57 years, Adelphia Stirnaman Lunsford, died in 1996. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara 'Bobbi' Junkin and Bob of Bella Vista; one stepson, Don McKinney and his wife Frieda of Murphysboro, Ill.; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. Donald Roscoe Newhouse, 66, of Springdale died July 10, 1998, at his home. He was born Feb. 20, 1932, in Elkville, Ill., to Roscoe James and Ruth Ellen Richardson Newhouse. He was a manager-buyer for Naturalizer Shoes, a member of the First Baptist Church of Springdale and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Newhouse of the home, to whom he was married Nov. 27, 1958; one son, Roy Newhouse of Springdale; three daughters, Sherry Belchoff of Portugal, Margaret Downing of Turlock, Calif., and Amy Payne of Springdale. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Ronnie Floyd officiating. John Carl Campbell, 90, of Dothan died July 8, 1998, in Dothan. He was born Dec. 26, 1907, in Roosevelt to John W. and Mary Jane Ellis Campbell. He worked for the Railway Express at Newport and Helena, then joined his brother, Everett, at the original Campbell's Supermarket in Fayetteville. He built his own store on West Huntsville Road in Fayetteville, excavating the basement with a car hood and mules. After retirement, he lived on a farm near West Fork, then in Florida and at Winslow. He served as a Washington County justice of the peace. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, holding the rank of petty officer first class. He worked in radar and served from 1942-45 aboard the USS Amsterdam, a light cruiser that operated in the Philippine Sea. He was preceded in death by one son. Survivors include his wife, Opal Rutherford Campbell of the home in Cottondale, Fla., to whom he was married in 1930; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia Zutler and Paul of Jacksonville, Fla., Elaine Smith and Rodney of Tallahassee, Fla., and Linda Campbell and Paul of Sullivan, Mo.; two sons, Steve Campbell of Fayetteville and Malcom Campbell of Cottondale; one sister, Ruby Young of Jonesboro, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Cremation arrangements are by Kent Thornton Funeral Home of Dothan. Josephine 'Josie' Work, 85, of Groves died July 10, 1998, at her home. She was born March 24, 1913, in Washington, La., to Joseph and Mary Frisco Daprimo. She was a homemaker and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves. She had lived in Groves for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Wayne 'Tony' Work, on April 11, 1984. Survivors include two sisters, Lucille Asta of Washington, La., and Sarah Battagilo of Franklin, La.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Mazzie June Baird, 69, of Marshall died March 17, 2000, at Mountain View. She was born Jan. 9, 1931, in Rock Springs. She was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Baird.

Guy Ervin Hoyer, aged 70, of Route 6, Harrison, died Sunday, June 2, 1991, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 27, 1920, at Plumlee, a son of Arthur and Dolly Braudrick Hoyer. He was a self-employed contractor. He lived in Boone County six years and was a prior resident of Kansas City, MO. He was a member of the American Legion, DAV and Praternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 1100. Survivors include three sons, Garry Guy Hoyer, of Independence, MO, Larry F. Hoyer, of Blue Springs, MO, Rickey Lee Hoyer of Tulsa, OK; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. A graveside funeral was held June 6, at Mt. Sherman Cemetery. Burial under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison. Pallbearers were members of the Alpena American Legion.

The daughter of Aaron and Ona Delitha Ogden Owen was born Dec. 15, 1913, in Charleston, Ark. She was the postmaster at the Low Gap Post Office for over 33 years. She was a correspondent for the Harrison Daily and Newton County Times writing with the byline 'News of Former Newton County Residents.' She attended the Low Gap Church and the House of Worship. She enjoyed knitting, spending time with family and friends, crocheting and traveling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Taft Kilgore in 1983 and one great-grandson, Tyler Taft Kilgore. She is survived by one son, Bill Kilgore and wife Tootie o Barling; one daughter, Reba Eileen Taylor and husband Dub of Springdale; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. {nct} Note: The obituary states 'her mother was Ona Delitha Ogden', this is not correct.
