Ben A. Rickey, 62, of Joplin, MO died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at Holt Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25 at Holt Memorial Chapel.

Burial will be in Plumlee Cemetery. Nephews will be pallbearers.

The son of Mary Frances (Potts) Rickey and the late Floyd Rickey was born on Jan. 28, 1939 in Western Grove. He was a resident of Joplin since 1996. He worked for the U. S. Government.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife, Ina Vern (Clark) Rickey of the home; one daughter, Elizabeth Crawford of Eldridge, Iowa; his mother, Mary Frances Rickey King of Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Rebecca Combs of Andover, Kan.; and two grandchildren, Zachary and Victoria Crawford. {nct}

Georgie Erzuka Villines Burton Hensley, 95, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at the home of her daughter in Grandview, Mo.

She was born September 18, 1909, in Boxley to the late Robert Hess and Minervia Edgmon Villines.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, Vernie Burton and Floyd Hensley; a brother, Neubern Gordon; two sisters, Clydie Edan Villines and Nell Lorene Flud; a son John David Burton and a daughter, Mary Drecella Burton.

Survivors include a brother, Francis Larkin Villines of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Mary Ruth Phillips; three sons, James Robert Burton of Sabetha, Kans., Jesse Clarence Burton of Shelbyville, Mo., Joseph Leroy Burton of Raytown, Mo.; a daughter, Naomi Ruth Barnes of Grandview, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bytha Neel Bruce was born in Izard County, Arkansas, March 30, 1893, and passed away in Batesville, Arkansas, February 6, 1969, at the age of 75 years, 10 months, and 7 days. She was a Methodist. She is survived by her husband, C.O. Bruce of Melbourne; 2 sons, Orvel Bruce of Melbourne, and Orgel Bruce of Mule Shoe, Texas; 2 daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Bull and Mrs. Ola Sibley both of Seattle, Wash.; 1 brother, Levi Neel of Luneneburg; 2 sisters, Mrs. Mary Ann Vaughn of Melbourne and Mrs. Bertie Vines of Sylamore; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. Jun Rokutani, 86, of Bella Vista died May 30, 2001, at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville. She was born Feb. 28, 1915, in San Jose, Calif., and moved to Bella Vista 21 years ago from Minnesota. She was a member of St. Theodore's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her husband, Sam Rokutani of Bella Vista; one daughter, Laurie Rokutani Gresard of Williamsburg, Va.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Theodore's Episcopal Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. Craig E. Gavin officiating. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home.

Reverend Raymond Douglas, 96, of Green Forest died Wednesday, Aug. 1 (2001) in his home.

Rosalene Barnhill, 68, of Green Forest died Saturday, Sept. 8 (2001) at home surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the First Baptist Church in Green Forest with Brother Claud Williams of the First Baptist Church of Boxley and Rev. David Hanshaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Pickens Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Pallbearers include Jim Johnston, Jimmy Greer, Jimmy House, Terry Clark, Kevin Robertson and Bob Wingard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Northwest Arkansas Cancer Support Home at 1101 North Woolsey Avenue, Fayetteville, Ark. 72703.

The daughter of the late Jim and Orphea Mae (Clark) Reynolds was born on Aug. 30, 1933 in Boxley, Ark. Rosalene was a resident of Carroll County for the past 35 years, with prior residence in both Boone and Newton Counties. She was of the Baptist faith and attended both the Green Forest First Baptist and the Boxley Baptist Churches. On Sept. 24, 1958 she was united in marriage to Beryl Crawford Barnhill. Rosalene retired as assistant cashier of the First National Bank of Green Forest in May of this year having worked there since 1967. She enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting and her five loving granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers-in-law, Bob Austin of McCleary, Wash. and Bob Villines of Springdale; a sister-in-law, Iola Pearl Norris of Green Forest; a niece, Lisa Kaye McGonigal of Odessa, Mo.; and a nephew, James Randall Villines of Springdale.

She is survived by her husband, Beryl Crawford Barnhill of Green Forest; a daughter, Becky McGehee; a son, Terry Barnhill; five granddaughters, Carrie Beth, Amber, Alyissa, Katie and Corrie; four sisters, Cleo Austin of Kansas City, Mo., Josephine Villines of Springdale, Alamarine Young and her husband, Ott of Ponca, and Nancy Presley and her husband, Chuck of Independence, Mo.; three brothers, Clifford and his wife, Louise Reynolds of Springdale, Clynton and his wife, Nancy Reynolds of Osceola, Mo. and Clayton and his wife, Helen Reynolds of Raytown, Mo.; in-laws, Norman and Margie Barnhill of Granbury Tex.; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends. {mn}

Lonnie Joe Self, 26, of Bentonville went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 4, 2004, at his home surrounded by many loved ones. He was born Oct. 20, 1977, in Bentonville to Dale and Yvonne Self.

He was a truck driver and enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler and playing baseball with his son, Garrett.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie Roberts Self of the home; son, Garrett Self of the home; parents, Dale and Yvonne Self of Bentonville; two brothers, Scott Self and his wife Shannon, Chris Self; one sister, Kim Moore, all of Bentonville; and grandparents, Gladys and Lonzo Self. He is also survived by two loving aunts, Sara Carter and Brenda Mustain, both of Powell, Mo., and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willie and Dorothy Mustain, and one uncle, Ray Mustain.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at First Baptist Church in Cave Springs with Bruce Holland and Greg Baskin officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery at Hiwasse. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.

Pallbearers will be Matt Groves, Dwight Ennis, Jackie Breeden, Sam Taylor, Scott Graham, John Frank, Jacob Leach and Chad Freeman. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Gurth, Laramie Morrow, Tyson Dyke, Wes Henry, Jake Stephens and Keith Stephens.

Mary Lue Mitchell-Roberts, 70, of Rogers, Arkansas, died Thursday, May 3, 2001 at her home. She was born November 16, 1930 in Whorton Creek, Madison County, Arkansas, to Sherman O. and Lueisa Reeves Bollinger.

She was a homemaker and was a native of Northwest Arkansas. She was a life-long member of Free Will Baptist Church, and a member of Women of the Moose. She moved to Rogers in 1961.

She is survived by her husband, Tom G. Roberts, of Roberts, Arkansas. A son, Rick Mitchell and wife Mechell, of Carrollton, Texas. A daughter, Alanna C. Mitchell of Rogers, Arkansas, one son, Lindsey R. Brown Sr. of Rogers, Arkansas, five grandchildren, Lindsey Ray Brown, Jr. of Rogers, Alanna Cheron Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lon Mitchell Brown of Oak Harbor, Washington, Kimberlin Nicole Mitchell, of Carrollton, Texas, and Jonathan Gregory Mitchell of Carrollton, Texas, and 11 great grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her first husband, Richard S. Mitchell, Sr. four brothers, two sisters, and twin daughters, Linda and Brenda Mitchell.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 7, at Callison-Lough Funeral Chapel, Rogers. Reverend Loy Counts officiating. Interment was in Rogers Cemetery.

Robert Earl Yount, 85, of Cave Springs died June 5, 1999, in Rogers. He was born May 1, 1914, in Fayetteville to William and Nilla Pool Yount. He was a former maintenance-department employee of the Bentonville School District and a member of the First Baptist Church in Cave Springs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Yount, in 1997.

Survivors include one son, Melvin Yount of Cave Springs; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday (June 8, 1999) at the First Baptist Church in Cave Springs with the Rev. Marvin Lloyd officiating. Burial will be in Elm Springs Cemetery under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs. {mn}

Mr. Rodd was born May 18, 1918 the son of Sam and Ann (Dunn) Rodd at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Henry Monroe Villines, 78, of Ponca, died Tuesday 20 December 1983, at Boone County Hospital. He was born January 12, 1905, at Low Gap, a son of Frank F. and Caldonnia Wishon Villines. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Maybe Villines, Ponca; three sons, Robert Villines, Springdale; Waymon Villines, Ponca; Kenneth Paul Villines, Mount Carmel, IL.; three daughters Pauline Clark, Harrison; Dene Duty, Boxley, ; Patricia Fancher, Kingston; two brothers, Dewey Villines, MO., Martin Villines, Springdale; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jarvis Villines and by two sisters, Nora Layton and Cynthia Villines.

Services were Friday, December 23, at Christeson Funeral Home Chapel, Burial was in Plumlee Cemetery under the direction of Christeson Funeral Home.

Ina Beatrice Harp, 76, of Rule, Ark., died March 27, 2003, at her home. She was born July 17, 1926, at Waldon, Ark., the daughter of William and Virlie Six Benton. She was retired from Cargill, Inc. and was a member of the Living Faith Church in Berryville. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daugher, Bonnie Harp; three brothers, three sisters, and three grandchildren.

Survivors include: her husband, Boyd Harp of the home, whom she married on Oct. 11, 1946; two sons, J.B. Harp and Luke Harp, both of Huntsville, Ark.; four daughters, Dixie Cochran of Kingston, Ark., Alberta Fort of Rogers, Ark., Amy Madewell of Berryville, Ark. and Doris Bumgarner of Huntsville, Ark.; one brother, Junior Benton of Washburn, Mo.; one sister, Ruth Phillips of Jay, Okla.; fifteen grandchildren; and thirty great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 29, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Rev. David Keith, Rev. Denver Cochran and Rev. Rex McMahan officiating. Interment was in the White Oak Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville.

Pallbearers were Brian Harp, Loren Harp, Larry Yarbrough, Ricky McGarrah, Kevin Montgomery and D.A. Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Stanley Huckabone, Larry Baird, Darrell Merriman and Billy Myers. {mn}

Sarah Jane Gardenhire, 83, died on Thursday, November 11, (1954) in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Russell Judd, near Valley Park, Missouri. Mrs. Gardenhire, before going to Missouri, was a resident of Berryville. She was born near Green Forest on July 1, 1871, and lived for many years in the Snow community.

Besides her daughter, she is survived by one son, Erton Mathis of Berryville; also two grandsons, Fay Beeson of St. Louis, Missouri and Maynard Beeson of Longview, Washington; seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Gardenhire was a member of the Moore United Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:00 PM at Snow Church, with Rev. Elbert Johnson conducting the services. Burial was in the Snow Cemetery. Pall bearers were: Bert Boatright, Eugene Snow, Hill Grogan, Vernon Snow, Ellis Reed and Walter Stephenson. Family Contact: Phillip Snow

Savannah Elizabeth Daniels was born in Newton County August 30, 1892, a daughter of Bill and Sarah Watson Self. She passed away in Harrison January 27, 1968. She had been a resident of Boone County for 29 years and was a prior resident of Newton County. She was married to Perry Henderson Daniels January 16, 1913.

She is survived by her husband, Perry of the home, 6 sons, Bert, Moody, Woody, Loyd, Coy and Jimmy all of Harrison, Arviel of the home, 3 daughters, Gladys Archer of Wynne, Ark., Rentha Reynolds of Stillwell, Okla., Georgia Brown of Deer, Ark., 1 sister, Annie Watson of Springdale, Ark., also 48 grand-children 59 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who mourn her passing. Burial in Nail Cemetery.

Donald J. Zieke, 71, of Springdale died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at his home. Born Dec. 29, 1930, in Davenport, Iowa, he was the son of Paul W. and Mildred C. Crosson Zieke.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. He was also active in American Legion and VFW and was a 32 nd degree mason and a shriner. He was an active amateur radio and CB radio operator. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida A. Zieke.

Survivors include a son, Danny Mitchell of South Roxanne, Ill.; a daughter, Claudie Henderson of Springdale; his mother, Mildred Zieke of Alton, Ill.; a brother, James Zieke of Alton, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hickory Grove Church in Nail with the Rev. Bobby Young officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Beard’s Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Fayetteville.

Sgt., E5, Russell Lee Collier, 48, of Harrison died Sunday, October 3, 2004 in Taji, Iraq while trying to save a fellow soldier, Sgt. Chris Potts, after they had come under enemy fire.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12 at Eagle Heights Baptist Church in Harrison with First Lieutenant Mark E. Goloway officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11 at Christeson Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12 at Springfield National Cemetery in Springfield, Mo. Pallbearers will be Sgt. Brent Curtis, Ssgt. Ron Lemley, Spc. Chris Hafer, Spc. Robert Fields, Spc. Thomas Eastep, Jr., Spc. Edward Palmer, Spc. David Underdown, and Sgt. Michael Corley.

He was born on April 28, 1956 in Crossett, the son of Russell Lee, Sr. and Mary Frances (Birchfield) Collier. He was a graduate of Wuerzburg High School in Germany.

He began his military career in 1975 when he enlisted in the U. S. Army. In 1978 he transferred to the U. S. Navy and then joined the Arkansas Army National Guard in 1999. He had worked at a factory in Harrison and had just received his emergency medical technician license before he was called to Iraq with the 39th Infantry Brigade in April of this year.

He was a medic with the Headquarters Company of the 206th Field Artillery Battalion of the Arkansas' 39th Infantry Brigade. Prior to his mobilization with the 39th Infantry Brigade, Sgt. Collier had been a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard's 142nd Field Artillery Brigade. He became the Alpha Battery medic upon arrival in Iraq. He was with the tight-knit Rhode Island unit where they embraced him as one of their own. A fellow medic was quoted as saying that 'he took care of the Rhodys. He was a Rhody. They wouldn't give him up and he wouldn't leave them. They've been a team from the beginning. He loved his guys.'

Sgt. Collier enjoyed reading, cooking, and art and music, and loved NASCAR racing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rodrick Collier.

Sgt. Collier is survived by his wife, Veronica 'Rocky' P. (Taylor) Collier of Harrison; three children, Mary Virginia Collier and Wayne Collier, both of North Carolina, and Hunter Collier of Harrison, whom Sgt. Collier was admired for for his skills as a father; and a sister, Carolyn S. Pfaus of Conway; He will be revered for his lifelong dedication to the military. {hdt}

Van Truelove, 72, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2004, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Mr. Truelove was born Sept. 28, 1932, in Newton County, Ark. He was a longtime Fort Worth guitarist and musician and was a loving father and devoted grandfather and will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Truelove; and parents, Letha and Jerrel Truelove.

Survivors: Sons, Robert Truelove and wife, Tonya of Lake Worth and Gary Truelove of Hot Springs, Ark.; granddaughter, Megan Truelove of Lake Worth; grandson, Mitchell Truelove of Lake Worth; sister, Imel Brisco of Harrison, Ark.; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends.

Peggy Sue Thompson, 68, of Rogers, died Feb. 20, 2004, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs, Ark., after a long illness. Born Feb. 20, 1936, in the Robinson Community, she was the daughter of John M. and Lily Pearl Wells Wilber.

She enjoyed bowling and playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Allen Phillips and George Thompson; one daughter, Patricia Sue Phillips; one son, Michael Wayne; and one brother, Harold Wilber.

Survivors include one daughter, Sheryl Dawn Phillips-Leverich of New Mexico; one son, John Robert Phillips and wife Polly of Pine Bluff, Ark.; one granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; and one brother, Marvin Wilber of Maysville, Ark.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, Bella Vista, Ark. A private burial will be held at a later date in Hillcrest Cemetery in Gravette, Ark. {mn}

Calvin R. 'Dick' Hammond, 68, of Farmington died Dec. 15, 1998, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Fayetteville to Clarence Alec and Lila Venus Barker Hammond. He was a bricklayer for more than 50 years and a member of the Farmington Church of Christ and the VFW. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Broyles Hammond; one son, Brad Broyles Hammond of Fayetteville; one daughter, Pam Hammond Lakey of Alma; four sisters, Wathena McAdoo of West Fork, Bonnie Stamps of Springdale, Jo Ann Wood of Fayetteville and Donna Leming of Elkins.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Farmington Church of Christ with Ronald J. Morrison and Mark LaValley officiating. Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel of Fayetteville. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. {mn}
