Warren D. Edgmon, 80, of Damascus died Thursday, August 7, 2003. He was born April 18, 1923 in Greenbrier to Walter and Ruth May Edgmon. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII, a small engine mechanic and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Rachel Baker Edgmon, two daughters, Darlene Ryan of Damascus and Donna Charles of Conway, two sons, David and Mike both of Conway, a sister Mildred Passmore of Conway, twenty two grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren. Services are 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at Quitman with John Sherwood, Greg Pineau and Ron Tillman officiating, burial will be in Cadron Valley Cemetery Greenbrier. Bessie Reed Skaggs, 86, of Rogers died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Rogers. A former resident of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late James Addison Monroe and Lou Ellen Rudd Reed, Baptist, and was preceded in death by three children, Zada Skaggs Nelson, Ada Skaggs, and Denver Skaggs; three brothers; and five sisters. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Arlie Skaggs; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Robbie Ellen Skaggs of Georgia, Lura and Lonnie Madewell of Fayetteville, Carolyn and Calvin Turner of Springdale, Leta Mae and Rod White of Nob Hill, and Lowella Shirley of Bentonville; five sons and daughters-in-law, Loyd and Nancy Skaggs, Mac Arthur and Denice Skaggs, Doyle and Rethea Skaggs, David and Lenda Skaggs and Ben and Dorothy Skaggs, all of Springdale; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Dorsey Martin and Rev. Rusty Martin officiating. Burial was in Oark Cemetery. Jean Lawson Fairchild, 74, of Bentonville died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Bates Medical Center. She was born Nov. 16, 1927, in Newton County to Charlie Hatcher and Grace Pruitt Hatcher. Jean grew up in Hiwasse, moved to Bentonville and Joplin, and then returned to Bentonville in 1996. While in Joplin, she was a nurse's aide at St. John's Hospital and worked at a day-care facility for children. Jean worked for more than 10 years at the Bank of Bentonville. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Bentonville, was a member of the Disciple Women's Fellowship and served the church in many other capacities; was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, loved all types of water sports and yard work, but her passion was sewing. Jean loved her grandchildren very much and was always supportive in their sporting and school activities. Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Lynn White of Bentonville, Willa Jean Lawson of Rogers; one brother, Doug Hatcher of Bentonville; three sisters, Lorene Nichols of Bella Vista, Betty Smith of Bella Vista and Joy Wilmott of Decatur; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Hatcher of Bentonville; one brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Bonnie Jefferson of Bentonville; four grandchildren, Josh White of Fayetteville, Jon White of Conway, Samantha Yates of Tulsa and Ben Yates of Rogers, many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse Lawson, in 1966, and her second husband, Jim Fairchild, in 1980; as well as one brother, J.D. Hatcher. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2002, at the First Christian Church in Bentonville with the Rev. Don Morrow and Brent Williams officiating. Burial will be in Benton County Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Stockdale Funeral Services in Rogers. Services for Beckey Jane Taylor, 92, of Berryville, were held June 1 at 11 a.m. at the Nelson Chapel in Berryville with the Rev. John D. Birchfield officiating. Burial was in the Dean Cemetery under the direcion of Nelson Funeral Service.
Taylor, the daughter of George and Serina A. (Suggs) Rosson, was born October 25, 1898 in Big Flat and died May 27 (1992) in Eureka Springs. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Survivors are one son, Monroe Taylor of Berryville; six daughters, Jessie Coker of Republic, MO, Marie Huffman of Week CA, Ruth Taylor of Horton, KS, Mary Ellen Anderson of Springfield, MO, Carylon conners of Huntsville, and Brenda Birchfield of Eureka Springs; one half-brother, Frank Alley of Clifty, and one half-sister, Ethel Brown of Roswell, N.M.; 45 grandchildren; 102 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren. On March 28, 1915 she was united in marriage with Charley Edward Taylor who preceeded her in death after 72 years of marriage. She was also preceeded in death by a son, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.

Richard J. 'R.J.' Self, 71, of Lincoln died Feb. 18, 2004, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born June 12, 1932, in Hitchita, Okla., to Richard Jackson and Dollie Evelyn Woodard Self. He attended Centerpoint Church of God.
Survivors include one son, Ronnie Self and wife Desirae of Gentry; one daughter, Connie Self; three brothers, Clyde, Lonnie and Paul; five sisters, Carolane, Myrtle, Lillie, Lavada and Ruby; two grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove with Cecil Sugg officiating. Burial will be in Summers Cemetery. He was a World War II Army Staff Sergeant serving as a Radio and Air Traffic Control Operator in the China Burma India Theater. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Springdale, AR. His wife, Anna Marie Watson, one daughter; Joanna Zarriello and husband Brian of Chicago, Il, one granddaughter Lucia Zarriello of Chicago, Il, one sister; Opal Eversole of Emeryville, CA, many nephews, nieces and friends survive him. Visitation will be Thursday, February 5, 2004 from 2:00P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. James A. Staggs Passes Away, After Long Illness
Mr. Staggs would have been 67 years of age next July 7th. He was born in this part of the county and remained in this vicinity until he was nearly grown. About forty-one years ago he was married to Miss Harriett Woods of this county and soon following their marriage they move to Melbourne, where he was engaged at farming and stock dealing for many years, though in later years he engaged in buying and selling cattle exclusively and was quite successful in this line. He followed this business continuously until about two years ago, when he retired from activity on account of his health. He moved from Melbourne to Calico Rock about nine years ago. In the prime of his years Mr Staggs carried on his work and business with a marked degree of aggressiveness, his energies extending his business all over this and into adjoining counties, where he formed acquaintances that made for life-long friends. The news of his passing will be received with deep regret by scores of friends and acquaintances. Deceased is survived by his widow; one son, Charles of near here; two daughters, Miss Ruedeane of this place and Mrs Hallie Arrighi of Fordland, Missouri.; two brothers, David of Cross Roads and Felix of Searcy, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs Joe Estes of Cross Roads and Mrs Brown of Oklahoma. LEE CARTER DIES SUNDAY NIGHT March 14, 1943
Lee Carter, as he was familiarly known to many friends, was born in Carter Co., Missouri, on February 15, 1869 and moved to this county when young. He has farmed all his life. He is survived by a wife, on sister, four sons, Bart, Virgil, John, and Ray, all of this county,
one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Dutton of Clay Center, Kansas. Interment was in the Flint Springs Cemetery
under direction of the Higginbotham Funeral Service and Rev. A. L. Love conducted the services.

Walter Ervin 'Erv' Pruitt was born May 18, 1926 in Terlton, OK to Arthur Jackson and Lora Childers Pruitt. He passed away February 16, 2004 at OU Medical Center at 77 years of age.
He was a member of the Marshall Masonic Lodge No. 104. Several years later he was a district manager for Farm Bureau. In 1965 Ervin became a licensed commodities broker retiring in 1991. Ervin married Linda Price Pruitt on May 22, 1981 in Las Vegas, NV. Ervin's caring and outgoing personality was well known by those who attend the Lunch on Noble, a free lunch program. He was quick to lend a hand to those less fortunate. Another volunteer group that Ervin embraced was the Master Gardener Program at Oklahoma County OSU Extension Center. Ervin was eager to apply that knowledge to his own yard. For his hours of service as volunteer and counselor, he was awarded the Grand Master Gardener designation just a few weeks ago. One of his favorite pastimes was attending the Saturday Auction in Perkins, OK. Ervin was always ready with a warm smile and a handshake or a hug. He was preceded in death by his parents, and former wife, Jerre Wiggins. Survivors include his wife of over 22 years, Linda, brother Lloyd Pruitt of Dallas, TX and his three children: Donald Pruitt and wife Aloon, Oklahoma City, Diana Fleske and husband Steven, Oklahoma City, Michaelann Smink and husband John, Austin, TX. His grandchildren are Eric Fleske and his wife Amy of Norman, OK, Emily and Nick Kalina, Bartlett, IL, and Austin and Cody Smink of Austin, TX. Bettye Ferguson, former wife, from Oklahoma City, the mother of Donald and Diana, also survives him. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, February 19, 2004 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 310 East Noble, Guthrie, OK with The Reverend Mary Lucia Walker officiating. Reverend Dale Ritter will conduct graveside services at 3 p.m., Box Cemetery, Vian, OK. Directed by Davis Funeral Home, Guthrie, OK. Zelma I. Taylor, 80, of Springdale died Friday, February 14, 2003, at Northwest Medical Center. Born February 13, 1923, in Huntsville, she was the daughter of Charles Wilburn and Lillie Mae Cornelison George. She was a homemaker and a Pentcostal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Morgan Taylor, and three sons, Michael Anthony Taylor, William Eugene Taylor and Mack Allen Taylor. Survivors include five sons, Joe Taylor of Springdale, Jack Taylor and Jimmie Taylor, both of Rogers, Tommy Taylor of Centerton, and Rick Taylor of Cave Springs; 10 daughters, Lola Taylor of Jonesboro, Eve Curtis of Cave Springs, Shirley Scates of Huntsville, Linda Adams of Rogers, Rosetta Sparks of Springdale, Stella O’Neill of Lowell, Loretta Gail Westbrook of Spring Valley, Dolly Taylor of Cave Springs, Hope Manwarren of Fayetteville, and Tracy Mussman of Foley, Ala.; two brothers, Corbett George of Springdale and Leroy George of Pontiac, Mich.; two sisters, Johnny Pine and Alice Glenn, both of Springdale; 33 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Donald L. Crowley, 68, of Gravette died Sept. 28, 1999, at Gravette Manor Nursing Center. He was born March 18, 1931, in Decatur to Ben H. and Dovey Austin Crowley. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, a life resident of the area, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Dolly Pearl Myers, 89, of Harrison, died Wednesday, July 26, 1986 at North Arkansas Medical Center. She was born May 7, 1897 at Jasper, a daughter of Tom and Sadie Spencer Braudrick.
She was a housewife and a member of Mt. Sherman Assembly of God Church. She had been a resident of Boone County for two years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson M. Myers, three sons, a daughter, her parents, a sister and a brother. She is survived by a son, Guy E. Hoyer of Harrison: a sister, Judy Finn of Houston, TX; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were Friday, August 1, at the Mt. Sherman Assembly of God Church with Rev. Raymond White officiating. Burial was at Mt. Sherman Cemetery under the direction of Chisteson Funeral Home. Jack E. Walters, 86, of Clarksville died Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, in a Clarksville nursing home. He was born Sept. 13, 1919, in Howe. He was a retired coal miner and Colonial Bread salesman for 35 years, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Bunch Walton Post No. 22. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Vozel Walters. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Fort Smith. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Micky Patterson of Greenwood, Jayne and Stephen Usery of St. Paul.
