Stephen Harvey McComas, 84, of Huntsville died June 8, 2002, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born March 10, 1918, in Fayetteville to Stephen Lee and Ellie Almyra Chambers McComas. He was a veteran of World War II serving as a gunners mate in the Navy, and he was a carpenter. Survivors include his wife, Clara Ellen Javens McComas of the home; three daughters, Ellen Louise Brown of Huntsville, Caroline Lucille Jackson of Pineville, Mo., and Harveyne Almyra Hoffman of Aurora, Colo.; two brothers, Carl McComas of Witter and William McComas of Booneville; one sister, Mary Ellen Lester of Shreveport, La.; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Huntsville with President Jack Rightsell and Don Gibson officiating. Flossie Mae McDoniel, 89, of Maryville died Sept. 18, 2001, in Maryville. She was born July 5, 1912, in Bethesda to James and Amanda Benson. She and her husband moved to Springdale in 1986. She had been a resident of Holland Nursing Home-West until May of this year, when she moved to Maryville. Her husband, Willie 'Bill' McDoniel, died March 22, 2001. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Williams and Bobby of Rockford, Tenn.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy K. McDoniel and Phyllis of Nashville, Tenn., and Carter Dale McDoniel and Anne of Temple Terrace, Fla.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beatrice Edwards of North Little Rock and Jewell Latham of Searcy. Norma L. Gobble, 68, of Fayetteville died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, following complications from aneurysm surgery. She was born June 6, 1934 near Bohannon to Opal A. and Ethelma Crow Laningham. She was a member of the Church of God International. She was a long-time newspaper reporter and editor. Her last four years were helping to care for elderly disabled. She was active in Toastmasters International, an educational organization for many years and achieved the designation of Able Toastmaster. She was an organ donor. She was preceded in death by her parents and eldest sister, Hazel Marie Logue. She is survived by four sons, Henry Hudson of Jacksonville, Fla., Scott Hudson of Newbury, Fla., Tim Bishop of Nashville and Randy Gobble of Des Moines, Iowa; six brothers, Allan Laningham of St. Louis, Mo., Dwight Laningham of Goshen, Doug Laningham of Prairie Grove, Dale Laningham of Fayetteville, Dan Laningham of Springfield, Mo., and Stan Laningham of Huntsville; two sisters, Mary Ann Barron and Roberta Weathers, both of Huntsville, and three grandchildren. Cremation was under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the funeral home. Faye Bryan Tilley, 75, of Harrison died Wednesday, July 24, 2002. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Holt Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. The daughter of the late James Witt Bryan and Zula Burns Bryan was born Feb. 25, 1927, in Boone County. She graduated from Harrison High School in 1944 as valedictorian. She taught elementary school in Arkadelphia and later returned to Harrison as principal of Skyline Heights Elementary from 1982-1992. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. In 1986, she received the Honor of Life Master of America Contract Bridge League. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Lewis Brown Tilley; two sisters, Lena Cornelius and Esther Dell Green; and two brothers, James Witt "J.W." Bryan Jr. and Jeff Bryan.
