Oneta Faye Webb, 78, of Berryville departed this life Sunday, June 18, 2006 in Berryville.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Gobbler Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. Interment will be in Gobbler Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Ruth E. 'Haigh' Roberts, 86, of Fayetteville died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born March 19, 1915, in Almyra, the daughter of George C. and Annie Gocio Haigh.

She served Washington County for 20 years (1957-77), first as the probate clerk and later as county clerk. The family moved to Fayetteville on July 8, 1923. She graduated from University High (Peabody High) on June 3, 1933, and later from Fayetteville Business College. On Oct. 27, 1935, she married Harold R. Roberts of Baldwin. She was a member of the Baldwin Christian Church. Her artistic gifts included sewing clothing, creating toys, dolls and ornaments and painting on china for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, two brothers, sister and husband of 32 years.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Laurence and Margaret Roberts of the Baldwin community; two granddaughters and their husbands, Janet and Robert Harty of Rome, N.Y., and Linda and Steve Powell of Parker, Colo.; two great-grandchildren, Amber and Christopher Harty; two sisters-in-law, Jane Roberts of Fayetteville and Louise Johnson of Little Rock; four nephews, Orville J. Hall Jr., Bill Johnson, Doyne Roberts and Charles Roberts.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. The Rev. Ray Baggett will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Baldwin Christian Church, 5595 Huntsville Road, Fayetteville, 72701, or to a church of your choice. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Moore's Chapel. Augusta J. Illian, 90, of Parsons died Dec. 28, 2000, at the Labette County Medical Center in Parsons. She was born Oct. 16, 1910, in Parsons to John and Mary Marshall Record. She graduated from high school in Chetopa, Kan., and attended Parsons Business College. She lived in Elk City, Kan., and Springdale. She was a member of the former Washington Avenue United Methodist Church, Prosperity Chapter 134 at Elk City, Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Illian, on April 18, 1975.

Survivors include one niece, Mary Ann Finley of Suffolk, Va.; one nephew, Harold E. Atherly of Indianapolis, Ind.; several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons with the Rev. Peggy Hillmon officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday.

Harris B. Yates, 79, of Siloam Springs died Dec. 27, 2000, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born July 3, 1921, in Magnolia to Harris B. and Ida M. Robinson Yates.

He was a retired Air Force major and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He had been a resident of Siloam Springs for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Yates.

Survivors include three sisters, Marguerite Allen of Canyon Lake, Calif., Frankie Louise Kirkley of Columbia, S.C., and Mary F. Edmondson of Siloam Springs; one brother, Robert E. Yates of Boring, Ore.

Leonard Edward Steger, 73 years of age, passed away Aug. 8, 2001, after a long illness at his home in Fayetteville. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard E. Steger, his mother, Minna Nehring Steger Altsman and a brother, Luther Steger.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Scottie Wood Steger; two daughters, JoAnne Kiser and Deborah Lynn Stewart of Fayetteville. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Kimberly Dawn Kiser and Natalie Lynn Kiser of Fayetteville; two grandsons, Cody Jo Stewart of Denver, Colo., and Lee Allen Stewart of Fayetteville; three great-grandchildren, Brent Justin Byrd, Whitney Kristalyn Byrd and Zachary Thomas Plant of Fayetteville. Survived by a sister, Pearl Bloom of New Milport, Pa., and two brothers, Charles Wayne Steger of Pampa, Texas, and John Robert Steger of Moore, Okla.

Madeline Mary Newchurch Barbee, 94, of Siloam Springs died Sept. 27, 2001, at the Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 12, 1907, in Napoleonville, La., to Albert Sinclair and Marie Bergeron Newchurch. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Siloam Springs. She was active in the church as well as senior citizens' activities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamine Douglas Barbee, to whom she was married Jan. 5, 1932, in Baton Rouge, La.

Survivors include one daughter, Argie Lynn Willis, of Shawnee (Mississippi County); four sons, Benjamine Douglas Barbee Jr. of Stumpy Pointe, N.C., Leslie Albert Barbee of Scottsboro, Ala., A.V. Barbee of Siloam Springs, Kenneth Wayne Barbee of Portsmouth, Va.; four sisters, Agnes Kimball of Maringouin, La., Irene Chaisson of Baton Rouge, La., Enola McCluney of Mt. Vernon, Wash., and Elma Dawes of Fort Barrie, La.

Lucile Cordelia 'Cordy' Scott Byrd, 87, of Fayetteville, formerly of Stuttgart, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.

She was born Jan. 28, 1914, in Paris, Tenn., to Bernice and Richard Ernest Scott. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church since moving to Fayetteville in 1993. Previously, she was a 45-year member of Grand Avenue Methodist Church in Stuttgart, where she received a lifetime membership in the United Methodist Women.

Reared in Little Rock, she graduated from Little Rock Junior College and the University of Arkansas Medical School, majoring in chemistry and microbiology. She was a charter member and the first secretary of the Arkansas chapter, American Society of Clinical Pathologists. For 25 years, she was the medical technologist and X-ray technician at Stuttgart Medical Clinic.

Known for her artistic talent, she was an accomplished oil painter, winning many awards locally and statewide. She was a past member of the Pen Women of America. Among her many hobbies were bridge, sewing and reading. As a former women's tennis champion in college, she avidly followed professional tennis.

Preceded in death by her husband, James Marlow Byrd and a brother, Frank B. Scott, she is survived by a daughter, Judy Byrd Brittenum of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Jon Brittenum Jr. of Fayetteville and Julie Brittenum Walters and her husband, Douglas Walters of Kansas City; three great-grandsons, Jon Benton, Benjamin and Andrew; a brother, Wallace Scott and his wife, Nelle, of Conway; an aunt, Ruby Kautz of Paris, Tenn.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Nelson's Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Little Rock.

Lloyd Delbert Lutz, 56, of Witter died Dec. 21, 2001, at his home. He was born April 1, 1945, at Beverly, Neb., to Albert and Cloe V. Hisel Fredrick. He was a truck driver.

Alice Faye Eagle, 54, of Siloam Springs died July 9, 2001, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born Sept. 7, 1946, in Maysville to Glen and Alice Dill Guss. She was a life resident of Northwest Arkansas, a homemaker and a member of Salem Baptist Church near Stilwell, Okla.

Survivors include her husband, Lee Eagle, to whom she was married June 22, 1991; one grandson, Jeremy Dean Reed of Tahlequah, Okla.; two brothers, Dean Guss of Reno, Nev., and Ronnie Guss of Rogers; one sister, Glenda Powell of Centerton.

Charles F. Brannan, 81, of Fayetteville died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 31, 1919, in Texarkana, Ark., to Henry P. and Sophia Huffman Brannan.

He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and a graduate of Texas A&M University, class of 1942. He served in England during World War II in the 93rd Bomb Group, U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a former vice president of Arkansas Western Gas Co. and active in civic affairs.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Helen Louise MacDonald Brannan; one son, Charles F. Brannan and wife Brenda Peek Brannan of Rogers; two daughters, Barbara A. Charlotte Pamela Thibodeaux, 55, of Springdale, died December 18, 1999 at Springdale Health and Rehabilitation. She was born June 28, 1944 at Fayetteville, to Creed Earl and Marjorie Binam Cain. She was a homemaker and a Pentecostal. She was preceded in death by her father .

Donald Dean Urquhart, 81, of Siloam Springs died Aug. 14, 2000, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 27, 1919, in Wamego, Kan., to Lee L. and Mabel Shaw Urquhart. He was an industrial engineer for Standard Oil Co. for 31 years before retiring. He was a resident of St. Joseph, Mo., Chicago, Ill., and Prairie Village, Kan., before moving to Siloam Springs in 1978.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Barnes Urquhart, to whom he was married in 1947; one son and daughter-in-law, Lee R. Urquhart and Daphne of Shawnee, Kan.; four grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Shultz of Overland Park, Kan.; one brother, John Urquhart of Tombstone, Ariz.

Ocie Dean Autry, 86, of Lowell died June 24, 1999. He was born March 30, 1913, in Benton County to Ras and Tilda McGarrah Autry. He was a retired farmer and attended Temple Baptist Church in Springdale. He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Viola Autry of the home; two sons, Jack Autry of El Cajon, Calif., and Johnny Autry of Springdale; three daughters, Joyce Fry and Sharon Fields, both of Springdale, and Judy Lee of Fort Smith; one sister, Mary Looper of Springdale; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.

Bonnie Ellen Umbarger, 87, of Bentonville died June 24, 1999, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers.

She was born Dec. 23, 1911, in Wichita, Kan., to Grover and Nina Gunkle Beason.

She moved to Bentonville in 1978 from Wichita, where she managed Stradford East Apartments. She was a former hairdresser and was a bookkeeper for Marvin’s Building Maintenance in Bentonville. She was a member of Bella Vista Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Charles Umbarger, on March 4, 1998.

Survivors include one son, Jack Umbarger of Rogers; one daughter, Carolyn Howard of Bentonville; four sisters, Agnes Brown of Colorado Springs, Colo., Twila Rutter of Colorado, Mildred Crawford of Great Bend, Kan., and Betty Thompson of Council Grove, Kan.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Ellis Dewane Brown, 62, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, Dec. 25 2001 at his home. Funeral was 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 at Nail Church. Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery at Nail under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel of Harrison.

He was born Nov. 9, 1939, at Nail, a son of Goldie and Georgia Daniels Brown.

Andrew Zadorozny, 77, of Springdale died Dec. 20, 2000, at Springdale. He was born July 28, 1923, in Cumberland, R.I., to John and Anastasia Sidlar Zadorozny. He was retired from Amoco Oil Co., was an Army Air Force veteran and a member of the First Assembly of God in Springdale.

James Franklin Abbott Jr., 45, of Springdale died July 7, 2001, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Dec. 4, 1955, in DeRidder, La., to James Franklin and Jane Scarber Abbott Sr. He moved to Northwest Arkansas three years ago from Wyoming and served as a chaplain for Northwest Medical Center. He had also served as a chaplain in Wyoming and Missouri. He was a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, the Fayetteville Ministerial Alliance and the Judson American Baptist Church of Bella Vista.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Hudson Abbott, to whom he was married June 6, 1981; two daughters, Christina Abbott and Jamie Abbott, both of the home; his parents of Springfield, Mo.; two brothers, David Abbott of Fordland, Mo., and Robert Abbott, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; one sister, Kimberly Abbott of Springfield.

Mildred Viola Ingram, 77, of Springdale died June 6, 1999, at Springdale. She was born April 18, 1922, in Holdenville, Okla., to William Joseph and Lela Hickerson Yeager. She was a member of Berry Street Baptist Church, a retired lab worker from Steele Canning Co., and a member of Habberton Home Extension Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Ingram, in 1996.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Gene Ingram and Karen of Springdale; one brother, Dick Yeager of Springdale; two sisters, Leota Dillard of the Habberton community and Maybelle Martin of Springdale; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Elsie Self Casey died Friday, Jan. 4 2002 at Harrison. She was born Sept. 13, 1906 in Murray, the daughter of the late George Washington and Thenia Bell Sparks Self. She was a resident of Newton County for 95 years. She was a member of the Boxley Baptist Church.

She and her late husband, Arvel Lee Casey, were well known for the operation of the only steam powered saw mill in the State of Arkansas. In addition they operated a Grocery store at Boxley for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Donnie Clark; a great grandson, Claude Austin Clark; two sisters, Lois Fecko and Myrtle Carpentar; and two brothers, Vearl and Beecher Self.

Survivors include her daughter, Eul Dean Casey Clark of Boxley; a grandson, Kenny Clark of Berryville; three granddaughters, Billie Stinson of Harrison, Kathy Morales of Pelsor and Deanna Young of Boxley; three sisters, Laverne Eoff of Harrison, Modena Thibodeau of Harrison and Mary Jo Lewis of Long Beach, Calif.; 13 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday, Jan. 7 at the Boxley Baptist Church. Burial was in the Walnut Grove Cemetery with Rev. Claud Williams and Rev. Charles Taylor officiating.

Mildred Susan Gardner, 91, of Siloam Springs died Sept. 29, 2001, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 7, 1909, in Ridgeley, W.Va., to Ezra and Delphia Harper Harrison. She was a homemaker and a Protestant. She was the widow of Leonard Gardner.

She is survived by one sister, June Reed and one niece, Jacqualine Conley Ross, both of Los Angeles, Calif.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday (Oct 4, 2001) at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs. The Rev. Harold Thornton will officiate. Arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. {mn}

Lila Ruth Johnson, 88, of Hindsville died Oct. 1, 2001, at Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab in Huntsville. She was born June 21, 1913, in Whitener to Ed and Lillie Guthrie Duncan. She was a homemaker and a member of Wesley Church of Christ. She was a member of the Arkansas Old-Time Fiddler's Association. Her husband, Henry Hayden Johnson, died on July 8, 1997. They were married on Oct 12, 1929. She was also prceeded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Hudson.

Survivors include five sons, Marion Johnson of Huntsville, Curtis Johnson, Doyal Johnson and Carl Johnson, all of Hindsville, and Odell Johnson of Elkins; four daughters, Claudia Ferguson of Fayetteville, Joyce Hinkle of Hindsville, Fran White and Bonnie Endacott, both of Huntsville; one sister, Vera Medley of Fayetteville; 33 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday Oct 3, 2001 at Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville. Burial will be in Cherry Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons. {mn,mcr}

Madge H. Bryan, 78, of Maple Grove died Sept. 30, 2001. She was a former resident of Springdale.

Survivors include daughters, Lisa Leclerc and her husband, David, of Minnesota, Nancy Christy and her husband, Alan, of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Paul Leclerc, Matthew and Jason Christy; one sister, Eula Waldrop of Houston, Texas; one brother, T.L. Harris of Mississippi.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 6, 2001 at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Red Cross. {mn}

F. J. 'Red' Matzen, 77, of Bella Vista died Oct. 1, 2001, at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville. He was born June 14, 1924, in Sheboygan, Wis., to Arnold and Marcella Konz Matzen. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He retired from Logemann Brothers Co. in Milwaukee, Wis., before moving to Bella Vista in 1990. He was a member of Bella Vista Community Church and was an accomplished scroll woodworker.

Survivors include his wife, Veryl Lee Matzen, to whom he was married Jan. 11, 1947; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean Matzen and Bev of West Allis, Wis., and Tom Matzen and Wendy of Wauwatosa, Wis.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Halat and Bobby of New Berlin, Wis., and Shirley Ficks and Bob of Sugarland, Texas; nine grandchildren; one sister, Marian Boardman of Manchester, Iowa.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday Oct. 5,2001 at Bella Vista Community Church with the Rev. David McKay officiating.

Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bella Vista Community Church Building Fund, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, 72714. {mn}

Mrs. Elizabeth Dickey, widow of the late L. W. Dickey and a most estimable old lady 72 years of age, died at her home in Martin township Thursday Aug. 21st. Deceased had been trouble for sometime with cancer of the face resulting in blood poisoning, the immediate case of her death. For 55 years Mrs. Dickey had been a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church and always lived a consistant Christian life. Four sons and two daughters, all married, are left to mourn the loss of a dear old mother. Funeral services and burial occurred at the Rushing cemetery on Friday.

Lewis Dickey, one of Pope County's oldest citizens, who lived near Falerno, died at the home of his son, John Dickey of Dover last Thursday night, at the advanced age of 84. Mr. Dickey had been in ill health for several months, being afflicted with phtysic, but was able to attend the picnic at Dover on the fourth where he had a pleasant time, and went from the grounds to his son's home and that night died. (Note: His tombstone had death on 19 July)

Mary Maude Gallagher, 84, of Coal Hill died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Ozark Nursing Home.

She was born at Coal Hill, daughter of the late Christopher and Ola Smith Gallagher, retired school teacher, and member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Altus.

She is survived by several cousins. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, July 7, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Hillary Filatreau officiating.

Burial was in Coal Hill Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Harry Smith, Patrick Smith, Carl Smith, Allen Bryant, Keith Morrow, and James Hurst. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Phillips, Gene Raible and Lance Spanke.
