John Thomas Bailey was born September 17, 1858 to William Thomas Bailey and Amanda; he died February 4, 1916 in Johnson County, Arkansas.
His first marriage was to Rhoda Belle Carter. Nelson County, Kentucky birth records show a R. B. Carter, white female, born to Jonathan Carter and Rachel Carter, December 7, 1854. I believe this is
Rhoda Belle Carter. John and Rhoda are buried at Carter Cemetery in Johnson County; her name is spelled Roda on grave marker.
In the following census, Rhody Bell Carter, age 13 years, is in household of her parents, Jonathan and Rachel Ann Carter. Her sister Mattie is age 5 years. On July 15, 1882 Mattie E. Carter married Hiram Jordan. After his death, and after the death of her sister, Rhody, Mattie married widower J.T. Bailey.
