William J. Waldron and Troy T. Sells: William J. Waldron was son of James Edward Waldron and Margaret Ann Cook. This picture was taken about 1915 at Watulula. W. J. Waldron and T. T. Sells belonged to the I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 575 at Watalula. Meetings were held in the Watalula School and Church building 1/4 mile NW of the original Watalula Post Office. Listing some of the thought to be members: Henry Beck, Jim Hollinger, Stonie Crouch, Zeal Dickerson, Cole Harris, Ward Casey, Tom Hubbard, Edward Barhams, Elick Mayner, Walter Harris, Tom Hobbs, William 'Will' Cagle, Cally Baskin, Wess Whitson, Edward D., Waldron, William J., Waldron, Samuel T., Waldron, T.T. Sells, and Mr. W. W. Woolsey, he said he joined the IOOF in the early 1930's and was active up until January 1, 1937, he left the State of AR in 1941 and was gone until 1946. He went to Virginia and he thought the lodge broke up about 1940.
The lodge had very little money, Stonie Crouch said the last person the lodge helped was Henry Beck most all they had on hand was $10.00 but in those days $10.00 would go a long way. Stonie said you could even plant a crop on $10.
I have proof of three (3) lodge members being Secretaries. E.D. Waldron,(1) signed a Certificate for Dues dated March 1, 1920, (1919) for $3.00 through January 1st 1920 person that paid their Dues were his brother S. T. Waldron. T. T. Sells, (2) did the same January 30, 1920, for S. T. Waldron, dues were #3.00 paid through January 31, 1921. Waldron members cont. Wm. J. Waldron, (3) did the same July 1, 1921, some of $4.50 through April 1, 1922, for S. T. Waldron, Wm. J. Waldron a brother. Submitted by: LaMona Phillips Thanks LaMona!
