Jasper, Pruitt, Marble City, and Mt. Sherman Community Index
Newton County, Arkansas
A post office was established at Pruitt May 29, 1925, the first post master was Frank A. Hammons.
A community about four miles east of Jasper was known as The Flatwoods.
Marble City was also known as Wilcoxson, Marble Falls, and Dog Patch. A post office was established at Wilcockson September 24, 1883, Mander Wilcockson was the post master. On May 21, 1934 the name changed to Marble Falls.
A post office was established as Killgore October 23, 1891, the post master was Jackson Killgore. February 23, 1914 a post office was re established there and named Plumlee, with William A. Spencer as post master. The name changed to Mount Sherman March 15, 1934. [See: John Samuel Spencer Obituary]
