On top of a bluff overlooking Bear Creek. One of the oldest cemeteries in the county. Started in the
1840s on the family farm of Marshall Parks who came here from Tennessee to homestead.
Directions to burial site, provided by CL and Lina Boyd:
From the Junction of
Highway 65 and 74 north of Marshall, go west on Highway 74 for .3 mile to the Y. Go left for 1 mile to the
red metal gate on the left. (Usually locked). Go across pasture for about 1/4 mile to edge of bench over
Bear Creek. Cemetery is north of hay storage area. Approximately 40 graves. Six have marble stones but
are deteriorated so badly they are unreadable. Area about 65 feet by 200 feet. Appears to have been at least
two rock crypts, one of which has been torn down and dug into for a depth of about 3 feet.
