C. L. ordered his military marker from Washington, DC, called the National Cemetery at Baton Rouge to see if they knew where he was buried. They said no, but they could assign a space if he wanted to bring the marker there to place it. So C. L. placed the marker in Leslie Cemetery with other members of his family. We have his war records and Elizabeth's pension record and will share this. Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas Son of Charles Boyd and Levina Smith Husband of Margaret Wilson Note: This is a memorial only. He died in the Civil War at Ft. Smith and is buried in a mass grave there. Marker placed by C. L. Boyd Family Contact: CL and Lina Boyd Boyd, Sarah Dicy Jane July 21, 1832 December 8, 1862 She was born in Henderson County, Tennessee She died in Searcy County, Arkansas Daughter of Samuel Leslie and Ruth Harris Wife of John Smith Boyd Children: Martha Jane Sooter Blair, William Francis, Samuel, Mary E. Giles, Andrew J. and James Madison. Note: John Smith Boyd was killed at Pilot Knob, Missouri during the Civil War. He was with General Sterling Price in his raid through Missouri. His brother, James Boyd, was with him and was captured and sent first to prison in St. Louis and then to Rock Island, Illinois. Since both John and his wife Sarah died about the same time, their children were raised by their Boyd grandparents, Charles and Levina Smith Boyd. Sarah Dicy Jane Boyd has no marker. There is an old crypt made from bricks that marks the graves of her and two of her sisters. No markers have ever been placed for them. Dicey died just after the birth of their last child. She was sick and was given some honey. There was a bee still in it and the bee stung her in the mouth and she died from the sting.
