This cemetery no longer exists as a cemetery. In the old Pope County Cemetery Book done by the Pope County Hisorical Association, Bob Tripp indictes there were five burials here, but I can only find two.

These two Cassell boys were going home from furlough during the Civil War, when they were captured and hanged by bushwackers. They lived on the Little Red River, south of the Welcome Home Coummunity in Searcy County. When word was received at home of their death, two of the women in the family came up and buried there here. A few years ago, Leonard O'Neal, a great nephew, had them disinterred and moved to the Hinchey Cemetery south of Welcome Home with the rest of their family. I will include information on them, although they are no longer buried here.

This first burial place was in the middle of a field about 1/4 mile southwest of the junction of Highways 16 and 27 west of Tilly, Arkansas. This would be on the north side of Highway 27.
