 Shaddox Cemetery, pg 1
Pruitt, Marble City, and Mt. Sherman Community
Newton County, Arkansas
From Jasper go North on Highway 7 toward Ranger Station at Pruitt, located on the bank of the Buffalo River, by Pruitt Bridge. Right after crossing the bridge, turn right...once you turn off, you will see the sign with arrow toward cemetery. Shortly after crossing Mill Creek, turn right, cemetery is straight ahead.
In July of 2004 while taking pictures at Shaddox Cemetery, DeLinda Watkins visited and searched all day around and about the cemetery. She talked to a lot of really nice people who were kind enough to share their family history...including who donated the cemetery and who the old cabin belonged to...the Sion Shaddox homestead is the property that the cemetery is located on and he donated the land. Henry Shaddox, known as 'Uncle Henry', built and lived in the old cabin that is located there. View land grant and cabin as well as other info on the Shaddox Family, Hilary Jones, and tidbits of area history.
I inventoried this cemetery in the spring of 2001...since then updates have been made through obituaries and submitted pictures.
