As taken from North Arkansas Star, January 25, 1907
On Tuesday morning quite a serious accident happened to the street car at Eureka Springs. In coming down the mountain below the Crescent Hotel the motorman lost control of the car and it went at a rapid speed till it reached the foot of the grade where it left the track and dashed against the cliff opposite the auditorium with such force that it was partially demolished.
Besides the motorman there were two passengers. They were considerably bruised, one of the passengers D. W. H. Pearce, who was quite an old gentleman, was seriously injured. The officials of the electric company had Dr. Pearce taken to the Hotel Dieu and given the best of care, but he died that night.
