1. MARTIN VAN BUREN HENSLEY (BENJAMIN1) was born February 1831 in Wayne Co., Tennessee, and died Aft. 1900 in Near Shawnee, Oklahoma. He married AMANDA J. SIKES Abt. 1855, daughter of WILLIAM Arthur SIKES and RHODA ROGERS. She was born Abt. 1837 in Tennessee, and died Aft. 1880 in Near Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Notes for MARTIN VAN BUREN HENSLEY:
In 1850 Searcy Co. he is living with his sister and brother in law, John and Nancy Hensley Treadwell. In 1860, he is in Searcy Co. and is married to Amanda Sikes. In 1870, he is still in Searcy Co. and still in Sulphur Springs Dist. In 1880, he has moved to Pope Co. Ar. and before 1900, he moved to near Shawnee, Ok. He made a depostion for Joseph Renfroe when he applied for a military pension. In it he said he had know Joe since he was a baby. I do not have a death date or a cemetery location for him. I do not know what happened to any of his children. He was a Sgt. under Benj. Taylor, Union Army. By 1860 his sister, Nancy Treadwell's husband John has died and Nancy has married to a William Cooper. William is a brother to Newt Cooper, who Searcy Co. My Dear talks about with Walt Hinchey. They are alleged to have murdered several men after the Civil War to avenge things that happened to their families and friends while they were at War. If you can get a copy of the book, it is really interesting.

Notes for AMANDA J. SIKES:
Amanda said in different census years that she was born in different states. I am not positive that she is Amanda Sikes, but fairly sure. She may have had two sets of twins in the 1870s. I know that Robert and Columbus Hensley were twins.
