'James M. Sr. bought property Dec. 13, 1860 from D. F. and' (blurred on page and cut off copy)
'John L. Davidson filed claim on acreage in April 1907 Deeds brought up to date in Indian Territory in Chreokee Nation (according to abstract on the old Home Place at Bergman, Boone Co. ARK.)'
'In this same book, I found numerous entries for SMITH S. MATLOCK. Since we do not know Grandma Marands's fathers name, we don't know if there is a connection, but I did go ahead and take down a portion of the data. I also found some MATLOCK marriage records in Harrison.'
At that time, (probably prior to 1972) Elsie B. Davidson Rogers was not aware that her G. Grandparents were CLINTON ALBERT MATLOCK and SUSAN WEAVER, who were parents of MARANDA/ MIRANDA C. MATLOCK. Thanks to Carl Matlock we now have both the Weaver and Matlock genealogies within this GEDCOM with our DAVIDSONS, ROGERS and allied families. - Tina Rogers Beller, Sept. 10, 2004.

Per Elsie B. Davidson Rogers files, Tina Rogers Beller files, Carl Matlock files and other family resource file data showing:
Per various Census data, Miranda/ Maranda Matlock has been listed with both spellings, as in other families census's sometimes the names are misspelled depending on the census takers spelling habits or those of the family member. - Tina Rogers Beller, July 07, 2004.
Per Carl Matlock, Miranda Clementine Matlock b. June 1848, born in Tennessee, most likely, Miranda Clementine Matlock is daughter of CLINTON ALBERT MATLOCK and SUSAN WEAVER. - Tina Rogers Beller, July 03, 2004.
Per Carl Matlock, the family of Clinton Albert Matlock lived in Bradley Co. TN in 1840 Census; they lived in Hot Springs Co. AR by 1850 Census where Miranda Matlock is shown to be 2 years old then; by 1860 Clinton Albert Matlock family were living in Marion Co. AR, and by 1870 Census, Miranda Matlock was married to James Milton Davidson. Miranda / Maranda C. Matlock has been shown with birth years from 1848, 1850,and some census data indicated she was born as late as 1852, but per the 1850 Hot Springs Co. AR Census, Miranda Matlock was 2 years old and that has to be considered in estimating her age. Later census data on her is confusing and we at least know she is listed by the 1850 Census in Hot Springs Co. as a child of Clinton Albert Matlock and wife Susan (Weaver). Clinton Albert Matlock moved from Tennesse to Arkansas sometime between 1848 and 1850 it is believed. - Tina Rogers Beller, July 07, 2004.

Per Elsie B. Davidson files there is some obscure data as well, listing following I will transcribe as it is in her own handwritten notes:
'Hon. Joseph Weems b. Prince Geo. Co. MARYLAND 9-19-1820
Hickman Co.
Co. A. (Whitfield's) 1'st Tenn Reg. 1846. Came to H. Co. 1828. Owner Ben Aqua Springs, - buried in sight of it. BREECE CEMETERY on BEAVERDAM. ASHLEY HICKMAN b. 1790 wife, TEMPERANCE, From NC to TENN in 1928. (Elsie may have meant 1828) Gr. Grandfather of ARCH C. BREECE of COVE CO. and CENTERVILLE.'
Per Tina Rogers Beller, 2004:
ELSIE B. DAVIDSON b. December 25, 1912 ARKANSAS; died April 09, 1882 MISSOURI
Elsie also gathered data on her Davidson family and had extensive files on Sarah Davidson b. 1801 NC and her father Daniel Davidson of North Carolina who settled on Brushy in Hickman co. TN in 1825. Many other earlier researchers of Davidson families had given Elsie their work on the Davidson’s. Mrs. Williard Duncan was instumental in putting Elsie in touch with so many families in the Hickman and Perry Co. TN area who knew more about Sarah Davidson and her allied families.
Elsie, too, shared her knowledge of what she found, as she was a great believer that you have to 'SHARE KNOWLEDGE of FAMILY HISTORY' with other relatives . That is why all the earlier Researchers of the Davidson family line shared the 1880 HICKMAN CO. TN PIONEER published article as it was the only lead they had on our Sarah Davidson b. 1801 NC. In this article of a historical sketch or bio on Daniel Davidson of Hickman Co. TN it mentioned he had a daughter whom the townspeople called, Old Aunt Sally Davidson who lived by the Furnace' All the researchers realized this had to be our SARAH/SALLY DAVIDSON b. 1801 NC as she was known by both names and had in fact been listed on the 1830 Hickman Co. TN Census as SALLY DAVERSON. ( Most felt that Daniel Davidson was in TN in 1805 and by 1812 - 1815 when the other children were also born in TN). Most believe Permelia Davidson Lancaster is Sarah Davidson's other sister, as well as both having another sister, Mary Ann Polly Davidson Lancaster. Mary Polly Davidson b. bet. 1813-1815 TN who d. Sept. 09, 1891 in Slippery, LEWIS CO. TN near to county line that joins BRUSHY in Hickman Co. TN. As sisters and being daughter's of Daniel Davidson b. 1770-1780 all seemed to stay in fairly close proximity to each other., though perhaps in neighboring counties.
MARY ANN POLLY DAVIDSON md. WILLIAM B. LANCASTER and she is referred to as the 'OLD WIDOW LANCASTER' in the HICKMAN CO. TN PIONEER article of 1880. Mary Ann Polly Davidson LANCASTER died about 1891 and per most Davidson and Lancaster researchers is the other daughter (besides Old Aunt Sally Davidson) still living in 1880 when the Pioneer article was written on Daniel Davidson of Hickman Co. TN. PERMELIA DAVIDSON LANCASTER had died in 1850 Dacatur Co. TN, per the TENNESSEE MORTALITY SCHEDULE, and the Lancaster families. Permelia Lancasters death certificate, per NANCY MATTHEWS listed Permelia born in TN. David Lancaster was also the brother of William Benjamin Lancaster who married MARY ANN POLLY DAVIDSON the sister of Permelia and Sarah Davidson, all said to be daughters of DANIEL DAVIDSON b. 1770-1780 who d. bef. 1837 in Hickman Co. TN. Permelia Davidson is not fully verified as a child of Daniel Davidson but per the oral history of Daniel Davidson and his children listed in the PIONEER article and their descendants, most believe Permelia Davidson is child of Daniel Davidson of Hickman Co. TN.
No known wife for Daniel Davidson b. 1770 -1780 per the 1830 Hickman Co. TN Census in which he is listed as DANIEL DAVERSON age 50-60. Elise realized towards the end of her own life that the data saying Daniel Davidson and Mary Polly Miller were parents of Sarah may have been in error. In January 1982, I asked Elsie after all the research work she had done, where did she feel Sarah Davidson b. 1801 and her father Daniel Davidson were from prior to Hickman Co. TN ? Elsie replied she felt Sarah was born 1801 in North Carolina where Daniel lived probably east of Charlotte, North Carolina. She had often mentioned DANIEL DAVIDSON of ANSON CO. NC and her notes on him were found among her research files. Others who had originally found this to most likely be our line were Doris Treat and perhaps others. Doris Treats notes and those of Elsie B. Davidson Rogers have helped me in my own research efforts on the Davidson family.
In time, Elsie's research work blurred on who submitted what and they all just shared the data base as a source of DAVIDSON family genealogy. This lesson stuck in my mind well, and I too believe that family data has to be shared for it does no one any good to keep it to yourself. Elsie mentioned DANIEL DAVIDSON of ANSON CO. NC to me many years earlier when she first became aware he existed. Daniel Davidson b. bet. 1723-1735 VA name had been DAVISON in VA and earlier in NC. Eventually becoming, DAVIDSON spelling.
In the 1880 Boone Co. AR Census for our JAMES MONROE DAVIDSON b. 1825 Hickman Co. TN he listed himself as JAMES DAVISON and that his mother was born in NORTH CAROLINA and his father born in NORTH CAROLINA. James Monroe Davidson when in TENNESSEE had been in the Mexican War, and then moved to Arkansas and became a Judge of Boone Co. AR and was a Mason as well. In Sarah/Sally DAVIDSON's last census of 1880 Hickman Co. TN she listed herself born in TENNESSEE (only census in which she listed herself as b. TN as she usually listed NC). In this same 1880 Hickman Co. TN Census, Sally Davidson listed her father was born in VIRGINIA and her mother born in NORTH CAROLINA. In time perhaps, we can clerify more on why such a difference in listing of census data, and perhaps not. However, more reseach is ongoing on the Anson Co. NC lines of Daniel Davidson in hopes of finding out more on his children's names for we now know from Virginia Court Records that his wife's name was NANCY (per her signature on PE CO. VA documents) but unknown was her maiden name, or the name of their children. Some feel that perhaps an UNKNOWN JOSIAH DAVIDSON lived nearby to Daniel and Nancy Davidson in Prince Edward Co. VA prior to their moving to Anson Co. NC. Unknown is whether he might be one of their unknown children, but some think perhaps Josiah might be one name of Daniel Davidsons sons. After all, in 1790 Anson Co. NC Census, Daniel Davidson is shown with nine family members in his household including himself. By 1800 Anson Co. NC Census, only Daniel and a younger adult male with 3 children (2 young boys and 1 teenage girl) along with a slave is listed for a total of 5 free whites and 1 slave for Daniel Davidson in 1800 Anson Co. NC Census. By 1810 there are no listings of a DANIEL DAVIDSON in that region of Anson or Montgomery Co. NC. Had Daniel died or perhaps as an old man of about 77 had migrated elsewhere; so far, no one has found the key to what happened to Daniel Davidson and those who lived in his household in 1790 and 1800 Anson Co. NC. There is a Daniel Davidson, I believe in Randolph Co. NC but he had been in that county as I recall, during the time Daniel Davidson lived in Anson Co. NC.
At the time of Elsie's research efforts, she and others felt that Daniel Davidson of Anson Co. NC was the father of our Sarah Davidson b. 1801 NC. but they had no referrence as to his more accurate birth year of 1723-1735 VA. We also realize now, that our DANIEL DAVERSON was born bet. 1770-1780 per his 1830 Hickman Co. TN Census. Thus, these are not same DANIEL DAVIDSON/ DAVISON or DAVERSON.'s. Whether they were even related remains to be seen. More research is ongoing on Daniel Davidson/Davison of Anson Co. NC who was born and lived in Amelia/Prince Edward Co's VA.
Other North Carolina families with surname of Davidson are in western North Carolina as well, and most all of them have similar naming patterns. Many fine Virginia researchers have spent long hours of work in Court houses seeking old Virginia records which might help distinquish between the various groups of Davidson/ Davison’s in VA and NC. In time, perhaps someone will be able to unravel these various Virginia and North Carolina Families of Davidson’s/DAVISON’S and if they did have further connections-- not yet known. Some of their descendants moved into Tennessee, and yet we find very few clues other than naming patterns to associate them with our Davidson’s in Hickman and McNairy Co. TN. In fact, we find a lot of the DAVIDSON, ROGERS and other families in Mississippi and Alabama connect back to the very same lines as do our other families who are verified to be from Anson Co. NC regions previously. Some of the Anson Co. NC families moved into South Carolina (near Anderson) then on into Tuscaloosa AL area and then into the Mississippi counties of Carroll, Tipah, Rankin, and other counties throughout Mississippi. Later we find that some of these same Mississippi families then migrated into Arkansas, Texas and elsewhere. So we find that our Davidson allied families have a lot in common in both Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and some trace all the way back to Anson Co. NC. in all these states mentioned. The county of Anson incorporated a lot of territory in 1750, so it took in a lot of counties that today are ROWAN, CABARRUS, MECKLENBURG, UNION, ANSON, RICHMOND, STANLY, MONTGOMERY etc. Even my own direct paternal line of ANSON/ MONTGOMERY CO. NC Rogers have JULIEN/ JULIAN lines who were in nearby Randolph Co. NC just north of what is Montgomery Co. NC today.
Montgomery was formed in 1779 from the upper end of Anson Co. NC. By 1841 the western side of Montgomery Co. NC was taken then to form part of what is today STANLY CO. NC. Even in Haywood Co. NC it is said some families may trace back into Anson Co. NC area. We found notes on various families who may connect to the families in Stanly Co. NC that lived in Haywood Co. NC later on. However, so far no known connections exist for any of my lines with those in Haywood that we can prove. Later some residents of the area near Haywood Co. NC moved to Carroll Co. TN region, with similar naming patterns to our Rogers, but they too cannot be traced into our Rogers lines. DAVIDSON families are in all those counties mentioned, and I have found files of Rowan Co. NC yet most are still trying to sort them all out. When researching families from Anson, one must look at records in Montgomery, Stanly, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Union and perhaps Rowan Co. too in order to be sure of finding all the records of these North Carolina families listed being from ANSON CO. NC.
The genealogy of 'ROGERS and Allied Famiies', is my own effort at transcribing most of Elsie's notes, along with the earlier DAVIDSON and allied family researchers who shared their data with her, along with my own research work on DAVIDSONS, 'ROGERS and ALLIED FAMILIES'. Elsie's data helped me so much in doing further research of the Davidson’s and their allied lines, and along with those other family genalogist who have shared their work with both Elsie and me over these last few years, we have combined a genealogy of the Rogers and Davidson’s which we hope is a fair representation of how these families descended. So this is a family combined effort on part of many genealogy lines, by many fine genealogist as well as family hobbiest genealogist, and I hope this file helps others, but please realize that this work is far from perfect, since most contributors have tried to verify with court records if they exist, but were not always successful, due to so many lost records in these locations and time periods. Most of the submitters of this data have used court records, census data, bible listings as well as published histories or biographies of these families, WHEN AVAILABLE. Most submitters have tried to document and verify as much as possible, and we all know there must be information we have overlooked or have incorrectly typed into our data files. If you don't find the data in this GEDCOM file, there is little more that I have on these lines. - Tina Rogers Beller, Aug. 05, 2004.

Ernest Rogers died on March 25, 1972 in Springfield, Missouri and was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Harrison, Boone Co. AR.
Per Tina Rogers Beller, June 23, 2004 :
The Paternal Grandparents of Ernest Rogers were, Green D. Berry Rogers and Sidy (Sidney) Fields of Carroll Co. TN who moved to Boone Co. AR in about 1870 from Carroll Co. TN. (The parents of both Basil Alexander Rogers and William Manuel Rogers were GREEN D. BERRY ROGERS, and wife SIDY [SIDNEY] FIELDS ROGERS.)
Green D. Berry Rogers purchased land in Boone Co. AR from the Leeper family in Dec. 1870, Green D. Berry's brothers, James Franklin Rogers b. 1831 TN; Basil Jasper Rogers b. 1830 TN and their spouses and children; along with Purity Drucilla Rogers b. abt. 1832 TN the sister of Green D. Berry Rogers and his brothers, moved to Boone Co. AR later on it is believed. Purity Drucilla Rogers married Silas Acuff in Boone Co. AR and is buried with him in same grave, in same county.
Another sister of these 4 Rogers siblings is said to have been Nancy Martin Rogers whose gravesite is said to have been in Bellefonte Cemetery near her brother Green D. Berry Rogers and sister - in - law, Sidy Fields Rogers, gravesites. However, perhaps Nancy Martin Rogers grave is unmarked or with only a field stone to mark her gravesite, for we have not found her buried in Bellefonte Cemetery in Boone Co. AR. from their gravesite listings either. So further information on Nancy Martin Rogers. - Tina Rogers Beller, 2004.
