James Tilley, son of William Henry 'Grandsire' Tilley and Lucinda Arnold.
'Grandsire' Tilley and his 3 sons all served in Company K, 3rd Arkansas Cavalry during the Civil War.
'Grandsire' and sons, Henry and John, enlisted February 1, 1864 in Wiley's Cove (Leslie) Arkansas. Son James enlisted in June or July, he had to wait until his 18th birthday.

James was buried at Beavers-Tilley Cemetery in Searcy County, Arkansas.
