Thanks Jerry!
My parents, Ed and Myrtle Adams lived in St. Joe, Searcy County, Arkansas. They were the third generation that lived there. On my paternal Grandfather's side, James Turney Adams, born May 16, 1846 in Carroll County, Arkansas married Eliza Turney, who was born September 14, 1845 in Arkansas. Their son, Leonard Adams was born December 11, 1877 in St. Joe. My father, Ed Adams was born in St. Joe on February 22, 1907.
On my paternal Grandmother's side, Aaron Thomas Keeling was born November 11, 1849 in Friendsville, Tennessee. He moved to St, Joe where he met and married Lucinda F. Osborn, who was born January 28, 1855 in St. Joe. Their daughter, Laura Virginia Keeling, born April 19, 1884 in Tomahawk, married Leonard E. Adams on November 3, 1901.
On my maternal Grandfather's side, Able Still, born January 14, 1836 in Audrain County, Missouri married Christina Jane Whiteley, who was born May 13, 1844 in Sugar Grove, Illinois. They were married in Iowa. Their son was James William Still, born December 15, 1872 in Missouri. At some point following the birth of James, the whole family moved to Arkansas, and ended up in St. Joe.
On my maternal Gandmother's side, George Morgan Shipman, born January 25, 1845 in Tennessee where he met and married Louise Wright, born September 17, 1851. They were married in 1868 in Tennessee. Their daughter, Sarah Ann Shipman was born November 7, 1871 in Cairo, Illinois. After Sarah's birth, they moved to Boone County, Arkansas. Sarah Ann met and married James William Still, and they were married July 19, 1891 in Tomahawk, Arkansas. Apparently they lived in Freck, Marion County, Arkansas for a time where Myrtle Pearl Still was born.
Myrtle Pearl Still met Ed Adams in St. Joe and they were married on September 2, 1926. My parents had seven children; Leonard Edward, Janey, Mary, Jimmy, Glenda, Jerry and Roger. During the depression, they moved to Oklahoma, then to California. Ed died January 5, 1972 in San Jose, California, and Myrtle died February 8, 1990 in Tempe, Arizona.
Several in our family attend a family reuinion in St. Joe every year at the end of June. Much of the credit for tracing our history goes to my niece, Linda Terry.
