John Anderson Condley was born in October of 1836 in Wayne County, Tennessee to Ephaproditus D. Condley and Mary Polly Ann Calhoun. He was married to Charity C. Draper May 7, 1857 in Liberty Township, Pope County, Arkansas. Charity was born in 1842 in Pope County and died November 6, 1864 at Scottsville in Pope County, shortly after giving birth to her third child. John then married Mary Molly Elizabeth Stansell January 14, 1866 in Conway County, Arkansas. She was born in April of 1847 in Mississippi, and died February 28, 1930 in Johnson County, Arkansas. John Condley died May 15, 1915 in Johnson County, Arkansas and is buried in Arkansas Memorial Cemetery in Johnson County.

The oldest son of John and Charity was James Porter Condley, born April 9, 1859 in Pope County. He married Dorietta Poe December 26, 1883 in Pope County. Dorietta was born in Appleton, Pope County, to Joseph F. Poe and Isabella J. Rankin.

The second child of John and Charity was Cornelia Josephine Condley, born October 25, 1862 in Pope County. Josephine married John H. Houston November 16, 1881 in Conway County, Arkansas.

Mary Elizabeth Condley was the last child born to Charity and John. She was born October 20, 1864 in Scottsville, Pope County, Arkansas. Mary Elizabeth and her mother died the following month.

The children born to John Anderson Condley and Mary Stansell were: Ulysses Grant, Margaret Rosetta, Bell Victor, Macy Epaphram, John Griffin, and May.

Notes:

In July 1862 John Condley was drafted into Captain Howard's Confederate company. He had deserted by December of the same year.

John Condley enlisted as a Private at Dardanelle, Arkansas November 12, 1863 4th Arkansas Cavalry., Company C. Was then in Company E. was a Quarter Master Sgt before leaving this company.

Appears on 1860 Census of Liberty Twp Pope County, Arkansas. In 1870 on Welborn Twp Conway County, Arkansas Census. 1880 Gregory Twp Conway County, Arkansas. In 1900 and 1910 appears on Sprada Twp, Johnson County, Arkansas.

John Anderson Condley was a preacher and post master. Name spelled as Conley in some records.
