Sion and Henry Shaddox
From an 1980 interview with Ted Shaddox and wife Jimmie...'the great grandmother of Ted Shaddox first came to the Buffalo River in the 1830s.' Land records show the earliest Shaddox land patent issued in Newton County was to Henry J. Shaddox for 40 acres, November 15, 1854.
Sion LaFayette Shaddox became owner of 40 acres in Newton County on November 24, 1888. Soin Shaddox had lived in the Marble Falls/Pruitt area for quit some time. He appears on 1860, 1870, and 1880 census records, Mill Creek/Marble City twps. In 1860, 38 year old Sion Shaddox and wife Rebecca, age 37, are listed with their children at the time: Sarah J., Lucinda, Napolian B., Marion, James, and Henry. Son Henry was one year of age. By the 1900 census, Henry Shaddox is married and living with his wife in the same township as his parents.
Family members state that Sion donated land for Shaddox Cemetery and his son Henry, known as 'Uncle Henry', built a cabin on the Sion Shaddox land.
