William Riley Shelton

William Riley Shelton was born March 4, 1897 in Ashville, North Carolina. He was son of Eliphas 'Pate' Shelton and Patricia Cordelia 'Patty' Pate. William Riley's Dad, Eliphas Pate, shot a man in North Carolina and came to Arkansas and changed his name to Shelton, his mother was Iona Shelton. William Riley Shelton was married to Della Hudson September 26, 1915 at Parthenon, by Will Hicks. Della was the daughter of Samuel L. Hudson and Susan Elizabeth Taylor.

William Riley and Della had a store at Parthenon for sixty six years.

# 2 Beulah Norene Shelton, born June 15, 1918 at Parthenon. Married Derr S. Reynolds, he is buried in the Union Hill Cemetery.

# 3 Eugene 'Gene' Shelton, born February 21, 1920 at Parthenon, died February 28, 2000 at Fayetteville, buried Union Hill Cemetery. Married Elva Carlton, daughter of Theo Carlton and Etta Hammond.

# 4 Harland Doris Shelton, born August 27, 1922 at Parthenon, died September 1, 1976 in Wichita, Kansas. Married Audie Holland, daughter of John Green Holland and Minnie Jane Henderson.

# 5 Joel Ford Shelton, born August 13, 1924 at Parthenon, died June 15, 1994 at Harrison. Married Alice Fern Carlton, daughter of Charles Anderson Carlton and Bernice Swain.

# 6 William Riley Jr Shelton, born March 25, 1927 at Parthenon. Married Onieda Snow.

# 7 Wilma Dean Shelton, born October 22, 1929 at Parthenon. Married Joel Legrand 'Joe' Carter.

# 8 Everett Gerald 'Gerald' Shelton, born March 27, 1931 at Parthenon. Married Shirley Breedlove.

# 9 Charles Maris Shelton, born November 28, 1932 at Parthenon. First married Lula Bell Waters, she is buried Union Hill Cemetery. Second marriage was to Maxine Farmer.

# 10 Sammy Lee Shelton, born September 11, 1935 at Parthenon. First married Barbara Twyman. Second marriage was to Karen Clayton.
