Howard Carlton

John Howard 'Howard' Carlton was the son of Lewis Anderson 'Ance' Carlton and Sarrah Frances Bledsoe Daniels, who are buried in Buffalo Cemetery. 'Ance' Carlton was the son of Thomas Carlton and Sarah Isabel Lockhart, also buried in Buffalo Cemetery. They didn't come to Arkansas until about 1883. Sarrah Frances Bledsoe Daniels was adopted daughter of John Riley Daniels and Martha Jackson. Martha had her before she and John Riley got married. John Riley Daniels was the brother of my Great Granddad William 'Bill' Daniels, buried at Buffalo Cemetery.

Hollie L. Norton was the Daughter of Zodak Dock 'Zade' Norton and Minerva Jane Brown. 'Zade' Norton was the son of Joshua Norton and Jane 'Jennie' Ponder. Mineriva Jane Brown was the daughter of Hiram King Brown and Sophia 'Sophy' Owensby.

Howard Carlton and Hollie Norton married September 2, 1921 at Swain, Newton County, Arkansas. Hollie was born May 30, 1901, died November 13, 1985. Howard was born July 28, 1896, died August 11, 1980. They are both buried Hickory Grove Cemetery.

# 4 Mary Marie Carlton, born December 11, 1925 Hartman, Johnson County, Arkansas. Married Carl Columbus Clayborn.

# 5 Sarah Frances Carlton, born January 26, 1928 Nail, Newton County, Arkansas, died February 18, 1982 Tranqulity, California, buried Fresno Memorial Gardens. Married Thenonie 'Mutt' Davis, July 14, 1945.

# 6 Grover Cleveland Carlton, born October 30, 1929 Nail, Newton County, Arkansas, died March 30, 1980 Fresno, California, buried Golden Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Kerman, California. Married Janice Williams.

# 7 James Coy Carlton, born February 14, 1932 Nail, Newton County, Arkansas, died July 19, 1999 Mt. Vernon, Texas, buried Rose Hill Cemetery, Pittsburg, Texas. Married Frances Jean Chaney.
