Primrose Family

Submitted by JVGH

James Victor 'Jimmy’s' grandfather was the first Primrose in the area. He was born in Missouri but was mining in Trinidad, Colorado in 1887, when Jimmy’s father, Harry S. was born and in Santa Barbara, Mexico in 1897, when daughter, Gladys was born. Mining ventures brought Mr. Victor Primrose and Dr. Thistlewaite, both men of some means, bought the old Bennett Mine. Later in 1917, they bought more land from a Mr. Vancil along Clark Creek.

In 1921 Jimmy’s parents, Harry S. and Ersie P. Farmer, daughter of, Copie Farmer and Sarah 'Sally' Caroline Elmarene Shane, were married. Jimmy’s grandfather, Copie, was descended from pioneers Copeland Villines and Bird Farmer. The Primrose daughter, Gladys, married, Millard 'Floyd' Villines, son of James Larkin Villines.

Harry and Ersie’s children, James Victor 'Jimmy' Primrose was born 12 April 1923, died 20 October 1945 in an automobile accident in California. On his tombstone is, AR Seaman 1C1 USNR WW II. Elmarene Primrose, born 21 June 1925 died 27 March 2001. She married Orbie A. VanCuren 19 January 1946. Both buried at Beechwood Cemetery. Child Primrose, born and died 13 July 1928. Pearlene Primrose born 05 October 1931 and died 08 December 1955 of Cancer. She married Clay Flood of the Vendor, AR community and is buried as Pearlene Flood. Child Primrose born and died 01 June 1936. Child Primrose and died 02 May 1938.

I do not know where Jimmy’s grandparents, Victor and Abigail Primrose were buried and have no more record of them.
