Abner Casey II was a millwright, his son Turner was a missionary baptist
preacher and was the first pastor of Oark, Arkansas congregation. He also
preached at the Yale Church often. In fact his mill, built by his father
Abner was very near the Yale Church which is on the banks of the beautiful
Mulberry River.
Boxley Church, where Turner Casey preached as a guest minister and held
revival meetings there, but he never lived in Boxley. He did go there to
officiate the wedding of his sister, Polly who married Braxton Edgmon.
Polly is buried there by the Boxley Church in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Boxley is in Newton County, Arkansas.
Jasper is not far from Boxley and is in the Newton County seat where the
courthouse is. One of the few remaining original courthouses in Arkansas.
The original Boxley Baptist church was built by Abner II Casey and others of
the community back in the 1840's.
Abner II moved from Johnson County after
building grist mills for is two sons, Turner and Uriah. Uriah Casey's is still
standing.
Abner II moved to Newton County where he built another grist mill which he
sold to a Mr. Miller, who soon sold it to the Whitely family, this mill still
stands and is soon to be restored.
Abner Casey lived near Boxley and Parthenon, Arkansas until his death and is
buried at the Buffalo Cemetery near Parthenon.
