GEN. F. C. AINSWORTH,
          Washington, D. C.,
Dear Sir:
James H. Harvell, private in 10th. Mo. Confederate Battery, is
an applicant for ex-confederate pension under the laws of
Arkansas, and knowing nothing of any of his comrades, is trying
to make proof of his service by documentary evidence. He was
a federal prisoner, I think, at the close of the war; hence
received no discharge or parole from his command. If you have
any record that will tend to prove his service, kindly send me
the necessary papers showing that fact, and greatly oblige.
If above request is not explicit enough, in not giving sufficient
information to enable you to examine the records, please outline
to me the necessary points on which to base a request of this
kind.
Very respectfully,
A.P. Golden, Clerk.
