My transcription of an 1886 handwritten letter that I found in my Mom and Dad's files, from my Great Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Janie Gilliam Duron Flowers...
March the 2 1886
To my sons and daughters,
I seat myself to write you a few lines to let you know that I am well as can be and I hope these few lines may find you all well and doing well.
______ got beat out of his place on the mountain. He is living at ?Sunnyside? ((followed by 3 lines I cannot make out, taped)).
I would like to see you all but I don't know how I can get there. I can't think of much to write. I could talk a month if I was there.
If any of you will come will go over and take supper.
Will close for now this time by saying write soon,
From Lizz Jane Flowers
to her children.
