James Samuel Standlee In Civil War

James Samuel Standlee was born 1836 in Marion County, Arkansas to Abraham Standlee and Susanah Delano. He was husband of Elizabeth Jane Scott, who was a daughter of John Scott and Rachel McNealy.

James was a Private in Company G, 1st Regiment Arkansas Cavalry. He was wounded in a skirmish on Yoakum Creek in Carroll County, Arkansas while moving Union sympathizer's from Scott's Prarie now known as Green Forest, Carroll Co, Arkansas to Springfield, Missouri.

James died January 26, 1874 in Carroll County, Arkansas. He and his wife Elizabeth are both buried in the Black Jack Cemetery on Highway 221 North of Berryville, Carroll County.
