James William 'Bud' Raines was born July 1, 1851 in Walker County, Alabama. He was the son of William Bailey and Elizabeth Kennymore Raines. Bud Married Hannah Loggains in 1876 in Marion County, Arkansas. Hannah was born October 1, 1848 in Alabama. She was the daughter of Major and Sarah Mullins Loggains. Her father was a Civil War casuality and her mother Hannah came with the Raines Family to Boone County, Arkansas in 1870.

Children of Bud and Hannah were:
[1] Robert Carroll born July 4, 1877, never married; died May 2, 1969; buried Harrison, Arkansas.

[2] Jane born August 31, 1880, married Sam Davis.

[3] Nancy Sarah born February 27, 1879, married Thompsy Harris.

[4] Dicie born March 30, 1883, married Lee Bearden; died October 11, 1964 at Harrison, Arkansas.

[5] James Oliver born October 15, 1885, married Dora Lay; died May 12, 1942 in Boone County, Arkansas.

[6] John Newton born June 25, 1887, married Anna Baker; died November 6, 1964 in Boone County, Arkansas.

Bud died of heat stroke in the hayfield in 1899 at Freck, Arkansas. Hannah died 1932 and is buried beside Bud in the Water Creek Cemetery.
