Item #1151 Jackson and Calvin Eoff:
Post card photo. Jackson was half-brother to my Grandma Anna Eoff Wishon and Calvin was a full brother. They hauled the ore away from the mines, so actually they were part of the mining indrustry as well as the miners.

Mom always wrote on the front of the pictures instead of the back.

Item #1152 Clyde and Edith Laughter:
Clyde Anderson Laughter was born May 16, 1915 to William Washington 'Wash' Laughter and his second wife, Mary Sams Young. Clyde died July 17, 1984 in Newton County, Arkansas. His wife, Edith Priscilla Scott Laughter was daughter of Martin Scott and Martha Pate.

William Siegel Spears was born February 19, 1828, died May 14, 1916. His wife Mary Green Dickens Spears was born January 6, 1830, died July 12, 1902.

Buddie Gene Jeffries and Shirley Ann Owens, his neice... a few days after this picture was taken, she fell into a tub of boiling water and died.

Item #1156 Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Johnson:
This picture was with my Grandmother's pictures. I have several that Grandmother has just put their names on the back, that might mean something to someone in Newton County or have Newton County ties. On Back: Mr. Earnest Johnson and wife of Texas, used to live in Newton County.

Item #1158 Pat, Anna, and Inez Wishon:
This is Agnes Lee 'Pat' Wishon, Anna Eoff Wishon, and Inez Wishon. Anna, wife of Rheubin Henry, Pat and Inez the two youngest children of 'Big Ruby' and Anna. Inez was my mother. Pat is the only living child left of that large family. This photo was taken about 1922, when the family lived in Elgin, Illinois.

Item #1159 Calvin Snow Family:
Calvin H. Snow, Jane Owen Snow, Grace Snow, and Conard Snow. My Grandmother Grace and Conard were the youngest of Calvin's kids. Calvin homesteaded 160 acres in 1901 Cowell, Newton County. When Grandmother was 8 years old Calvin remodeled their two room log cabin and it became a three bedroom home and the Cowell postoffice. Calvin was postmaster at Cowell for 21 years.

Item #1161 William and Della Shelton:
William was son of Eliphas 'Pate' Shelton and Patricia Cordelia 'Patty' Pate. Della was the daughter of Samuel L. Hudson and Susan Elizabeth Taylor. They were married September 26, 1915 at Parthenon, ran a store there for 66 years. This picture was taken on their wedding day.

Item #1162 Men at Diamond Cave Entrance:
Left to right: Otis McKinley Davis, Boyd Pruitt, James 'Jeems' Thomas Spencer, William Alonzo 'Lonzo' Spencer. Lonzo was a tour guide and off-season manager of Diamond Cave for about 8 years.

Item #1163 John and Anna Barker:
This is John Carroll Barker and my Grandmother Lulu Anna Eoff Wishon Barker. It was his third marriage and her second. He was such a fine old gentleman and I loved him dearly. He is buried between his first two wives at Eoff Cemetery in Boone County, AR. He was sheriff in Newton County in the last of the 1800s and the first part of 1900s. He knew my grandmother's family when she was just a small girl.

On the back it has Mother Snow's friends children, and I think Clarence and Sterling? It does not have a date on it, but it is while they lived in Newton County.

Item #1166 James and Elizabeth Villines:
James Larkin Villines September 7, 1862 - October 9, 1955. Elizabeth Arlene Bradley December 22, 1866 - August 6, 1936. Married July 5, 1885. This was taken July 5, 1935 on their 50th wedding anniversary. Buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Charles Lineville Spencer, oldest child of James Riley Spencer and Mary Ellen Tindell. Gertrude Luetta Young was his first wife. Charles and his second wife, Essie Poyner, share a double grave marker in Mt. Sherman Cemetery.
